Default Anyone know of a good ESC??

Hey all,

I have been building a speedboat and shortly I will be adding motor radio gear ETC....

I have bought a graupner speed 700BB motor from a freind and would like to run the motor on 12 cells, So basically, does anyone know of a good ESC that could handle the increased voltage without destroying it!!

Any helop appreciated

Cheers

Dan

Hello,

I have been using RC Hydros speed control for my fast electrics for some time. Andy builds them bulletproof and you have a few different models to choose from. I run a Speed 700 motor with up to 18 cells and I have never had a problem with the speed control.

I believe their website is http://www.rc-hydros.com

best regards,
Pete

Hi Dan,

I've recently purchased a couple of CTI MIMIR ESC for my 12-14 cells mono/hydro boats and I can only say the little rascals work like a dream!
30V max, 50A, BEC (no receiver batteries needed)

The cooling fin is lukewarm after a 7-8 minute run on a 45K surface piercing prop, 700 Neodym motor.

I got them directly from the manufacturer for 32 Euro (ex shipping) with full warranty.

Let me know if you want his eMail address.

Regards, Jan.

Subsinker, how does the motor respond to 18 cells? Even with proper cooling, doesn't the motor get pretty hot?

Hey,

Thanks for the advice everybody, :-)

My model shop today shown me some ESC's that would work with 12 cells but the prices wern't cheap!! []

I recently found an old stinger 20 turn motor from my old traxxas blast lying around in my modelling box, its pretty rough in condition, but it turns freely and the brushes look good, So I may just use this on 7 cell's untill I can afford to pay for a 12 Cell ESC.....

Cheers everyone :-)

Hey, Danny boy,

I have no idea about the esc prices in the UK, give some examples please.

If you go for the "established" brands, you'll get ripped off.

I don't call this little bugger cheap, but value for my money!

30V (= 22-24 cells!) and 50A cooled will have no trouble with a 700 motor and you'll be able to use it in future (bigger/more cells) boats.

Regards, Jan.
