Has anyone had any experience with the Zig Zag rc boat? Do you have any specs? Ive done some research but they dont give you very specific specifications. Please tell me anything you know about this boat. Do you have any suggestions on a RTR or kit fast electric rc boat for under $100?

This is another boat made by Megatech. It is faster and I would recommend it if you just want a inexpensive boat to play around with. It has top speeds of up to 15 mph.

The ZZ is a quick little boat. I don't have the actual sats but it move about 15mph and turns on a dime. I first got this boat and now all my friends want one because they are so easy to use. The only real down side would be that it only used a 6-cell batt and does not have the space to put a longer running batt. You get full speed out of the boat for maybe 3-4 mins and a total running time of about 6-7 mins. I got mine as a retrieval boat for my new nitro boat. It even comes with a handy catcher to install on the front.
I would recommend this boat to anyone who wants a true R-T-R boat. I took it out of the box charged the batt and literally threw it in the lake. The thing is indestructible. I have hit pool walls, pier pylons, rocks, and ran over weeds, sticks, and even fish line (oops! sorry about that dude). The only thing that has happened was the drive shaft pulled away from the motor, but there is a brake away rubber part that is designed to do just that and all I did was push the motor back in to place and off I went. Hope you have lots of fun with your new boat.

I regress. I just found this link on-line from offshoreelectrics.com of a mod-ZZ racer. But the out-of-the-box comes close to that but not quite. Check it out and you will see that this is a fun and fast little boat.

Steve at Offshore Electrics does have some hop-ups for it. I have one also that I use as a retrieve boat but most of the time it's just plain fun to mess with. I know of some guys that race 1/8th scale hydro's but love to play with these! I can put it in the hands of a 4 year-old and not worry about it.

You know one thing that no one mentions in their reviews of this boat is that the range on this baby is 100yds +. I am a newbie so maybe its not really something but I was really impressed with the total range of the ZZ. My only other exp with R/C was some of the cheap radio shack and toy-r-us cars. They had a range of less than a block, if you were lucky. This little boat continues to blow me out of the water for its worry free and fun use.
I think I might just have to get a few more for my friends to play with. Racing the Nitro boats are fun and fast but get a few friends together and have a blast with a few ZZ's and the whole afternoon is gone.

It's small enough that you really don't want it to get that far away in the first place. I haven't tried mine out for distance but 300' is a good way considering that it will be a little harder to see that far away. I would think that most people generally wouldn't go more than 100' or so with it.
These little boats are hard to beat for the price especially compared to what you get from a Dept. store for the same price if not more.

I have one of the Zig Zag 2's. I gave it to my son for his birthday he is 8 ,by the way, and he has a blast with it and he rally cant hurt it . he has run it at full speed right into a log and it just flipped the boat over and it kept right on going. my favorite moment was when we first took the boat out he was driving it about 25 feet from the dock and some Jerk ran over his new boat with a Jet Ski and it fortunately didn't do anything to the boat except a little crack in the plastic top nothing a little tape wouldn't fix, and a good right cross to the face of our !QUOT!nice friend!QUOT!. This boat is just a blast you can run this thing in just about any water you can think of it will take it all and it is actually a better racer than my Hammer it turns so sharp that you almost can't keep up with it even though I can out run it in the straits.
