Hey all, I'm new to Boats but not RC. I'm looking for input on what I should get for my first boat. I was thinking a RTR would be a good start with room to upgrade. But I would be willing to go the way of building it myself. What I'm looking for is an offshore deep vee electric boat. Thanks ahead for the input, Basher...

you should check out offshoreelectrics.com, they have rtr or bare hulls. if you got a hull and hardware combo that would probably be a good route if you want to learn the boats.

I was looking at some hydros the other day, but the truth is I'd want to race something like that, and where I'm at nobody races and the only nice wide open place is a small to medium size lake great for water sports, the worst chop it gets when there isn't too many other boats out is 6 inch caps packed together. So I'm looking at something that's a desent size, I just dont think a hydro would stand up to what I'm going to put it through.
I was looking at the villin but I wasn't too impressed, I'd like to do something with a 700 size brushless motor and at the most, 12 cells. So if anyone is running offshore with that size motor could give me some ideas for a hull or a kit that doesn't include radio gear or something similar. Thanks, Basher.

i will build you a boat. i am just about finished building a custom boat . it is a villain hull with a 700 motor watercooled with 12 cells and it has a normal rudder assembly instead of the junk outdrive. it is very fast right now and it would be even faster with 16 cells or something.

or u could buy a cen. check out www.offshoreelectrics.com that is the BEST rc electric boating website you will find. i just got my first fast electric from there and i love it. cen hulls are really fast.. u can but a rtr for a bunch of money. but since u probably already have the radio stuff u could get a arr for a lot less. probably close to the same speed as bebopin's villian

IDK, if I could find a used hull and electronics and such that'd be nice, I'd like to get somethin a desent size for the lake I live on but I don't want something real complicated and expensive for starting out.

CEN boats are really simple. i would go with one of these
traxxas blast - towerhobbies
turbo vee 2 - towerhobbies
aquacraft ep hammer-towerhobbies
bass fisherman boat- towerhobbies
cen grey thunder, aqua jet, or wave shark- offshoreelectrics
the first boats i listed all go about the same speed. the cen boats go a bit faster but cost more too
there are more boats like the first ones i listed but that was all i could think of
