Default Hacker vs. Lehner

I'm bulding a 33" Titan 40 and I want to race it in the 18 and 24 cell offshore classes. I know I should go with a 43" hull but that'll be my project for this winter. I've narrowed my motor choices down to three:

Hacker B50 11xl 1435 rpm/v $279
Lehner 2250 10 turn 1076 rpm/v $398
Lehner 2280 10 turn 673 rpm/v $496

I'm using the FDM Turbo Trans so I can change gears. My question: Since there's SUCH a big price difference, are Lehner motors that much better than Hacker?

thanks,
Blake

Having never used either so far for boats I have no idea. But, if you check the racing scene most racers are using the Hacker motors. I don't know the reason why as these guys will spend just about any amount of money to win. I believe costwise, the Hackers are about the best there is. The B50 11XL should make your boat scream without breaking the bank.
You may also want to call Chris Fine at Fine design Mfg. for more advice as he uses a lot of Hackers.
I have a 32" FDM Offshore I plan to use a Mega 22/20/2 next year. It has a K/V around 2800 so I plan to use the FDM tranny with it .
Good luck with your project! jollyroger

Thanks. I had a chat with Chris and I went with the Hacker B50 10xl. I'm sticking to just the 18 cell class for now. They are running the bigger boats in 24 cell and my little Titan just can't handle the waves as well as the 40+ inch guys especially on the hard wall ponds.
