If you want more power and speed, I would say go with brushless. I put a Mamba in my Kyosho Half 8 Mini Inferno and it was smaller than the stock motor and like 5 times as fast. You just need one of the brushless boat guys to reccomend a good system for you.

Without pics no one can tell you exactly why your driveline is vibrating, but I'm guessing it's because of lack of support. Make sure the stuffing tube is epoxied in good. For the rest of your stuffing tube that in inside your hull, cut a piece of fiberglass cloth and drape it over it, allowing the ends to run accoss the inside of your hull. Then either use a thin layer of epoxy to soak into the cloth, or use thin CA and the cloth will wick it up. What ever one you do, when it dries it will be very stiff and should eliminate the driveshaft vibrations.
It would also be a good idea to do the same with your motor mount.

GRK65: Not to hijack the thread, just a quick quesiton: Which Mamba did you use in your Half8? Do you have to upgrade anything else to be reliable?

I took castle creations suggestion and used the 5400kv, they said anything higher than that would burn up because the Half 8 is too heavy. I posted this to let this also be a lesson to everyone else thinking about using a Mamba in their boat. Boats require more torque, the Mamba's are meant for small applications. and if you put one in a micro boat make sure you use the 5400kv or less. My half 8 runs fast and smooth, the only other 2 upgrades are oil filled shocks and 8 cell battery. I would say it is 3 times faster than stock.
For the sake of Eyekandy's thread, for anymore info on my half 8 please email or pm me.
PS The Kyosho Half 8 Mini Inferno is very cool and the hardware is true to Kyosho's quality. Very nice right down to the last detail.
