Default motor cuts....

Hi!

I have a problem i hope someone of you could help me with. I have an ******** that drowned two years ago and i didn´t found it for a couple of weeks so all the electronics were really soaked. When I tested the stuff i was really suprised that all the things worked, except when i hit the the throttle. That made me put the boat away untill now.

I have tested different motors and it´s the same, other batterypack and no difference. So now i bought a new ESC and it´s still the same. Today i tested another reciever but that made no difference so I have no idea what i´t could be.

Now I´ve changed everything and It´s still the same. Do you think It can be because the batteries are getting old or is the new ESC broken to?

If you have replaced everything- Servo (For steering), receiver, speed control and motor, and you still have problems, then maybe there is a problem with your transmitter. If you let your transmitter sit for 2 years with batteries in it, they may have leaked acid and caused some damage.

Have you tried changing all of the items at once? In other words, have you tried to run it with the new motor, new ESC, new receiver and new steering servo all at the same time?

Hey Peter,

Was your battery clean and dry before you put it away?
Was it ever charged again during these two years?

What type is it, and how much V do you read when measuring it with a multimeter?

Have you tried connecting the motor directly to the battery? Did the motor run?

The point of all these questions; if the cells have gone bad, they'll probably give (just) enough power for the receiver and the steering servo, but as soon as the motor is engaged, the power breaks down instantly and the motor won't run.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards, Jan.

Jan, that is what I was thinking, but he did say that he tried another battery.

I was thinking that it may have gotten damaged from 1) Corrosion, 2) Shorting out from exposing both terminals to water.

Thanks for your answers.

The batteries i´ve tried were both old and one of them were the drowned one. The other gave pretty poor power before the boat sunk and i couldnt use it with a 17 turn motor. But now i´m just trying the stock motor to see if i can get it to work.
So the batteries can be bad.

I have used them sometimes over these two years to start my T-MAXX and i tried the equipment one time last year in a car but with the same result.

The engine does not cut when there is no load on it and sometimes i can drive full throttle for a sec or two.

I hope It´s the battery cause i´m on my way bying an 8,4 to it anyway. It´s just that i dont wont to spend money on it if it doesn´t help.

Well, was it the battery? Did you get your new one?
