Hello,
Well my first ever RC boat - an Aqua Jet Extreme - arrived today. I was a little concerned when I saw the box it arrived it because it was dented and scuff pretty badly but it appear the boat is fine despite UPS' best efforts to the contrary.
I am going over the "Important Tings to Remember" Sheet that came with the Aqua Jet and one of the things it mentions it to "Oil the shaft before running." Knowing that I would need to grease the shaft, I went ahead and just purchased the initial grease from Offshoreelectrics.com. While greasing the shaft is probably something extremely simple to do once you do it the first time, I was a little hesitant to start unscrewing things based on the instructions that came with the Aqua Jet.
So, would any fellow Aqua Jet Extreme owners mind giving me a brief run down of the correct method for greasing reomoving, greasing, and replacing the shaft?
I appreciate any guideance.
Chris
P.S. - If there are any "before you run" or other "tips" you can pass along, I be interested in hearing them also. I believe I've successfully charged the batteries so hopefully I'll be able to take it for a run tomorrow.

i dont have any tips specific to the aqua jet, but i do recamend you go to auto zone and pick up a big can of bearing grease for about 3 bucks. it works great and you get a ton of it that will last forever. that is after your grease from offshore electrics runs out.

Thanks, I'll consider that. Someone else mentioned using marine grease which is something I have from greasing our big boats trailer. I would assume that would work also?

Last night I held off on attempting to remove the shaft but I definitely would like to water test the Aqua Jet this evening so I'm going to pull the shaft tonight to grease it. From looking at the pictures in the manual I guess I just loosen the rudder some and loosen the screw that holds the shaft to the prop and pull the shaft out (I guess it just easily slides out)?

Yup, easily slides out - nothing to it. I believe that steven suggests greasing the stock shaft, but the flex shaft that comes with the Extreme version eliminates that.
Steven can you verify??

lol lawtyger, welcome to the aqua jet xtreme owners club
.
your making this way more complex then it should be.
i just remove the rudder and unscrew the nut where the shaft meets the flexshaft. grease then put it back. about a 2min job
oh yea and when you put it back make sure the prop doesnt hit the rudder, i think you should have a nickel's thickness worth of space between the prop and rudder.
