Default HELP!!!!

Hello all,

I just bought a Traxxas Villan EX and on my first day out, but third set of batts. I lost power to one of the props, both motors turn but only one prop turns.

At first I thought that a set screw just came loose, but upon further inspection it looks like something either came loose or broke in the drive shaft under the radio tray.

Has anyone experianced this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have 14+ years of R/C car experiance, but am a NOOBIE when it comes to R/C boats.

Jason.

The best thing to do is pull the drive shaft out and inspect it. Also check the set screws down by the prop.

So out of ALL the people involved in the boats forum I only get advise from one person?............What's up with that?

I need to hear from Villian EX owners PLEASE, I know your out there.......Speak up.

I also need to know how to put the rubber shaft boots back in without breaking them, I've been through two sets and have had no luck.

Thanks, Jason.

Yes, we ALL are involved in boats. I speak for myself when I say "I won't buy RTR." I gain a whole lot more experience and know how building things myself. So, alot of us don't even have a mental picture of what you are seeing.

I was a Villain EX owner, but I sold it. Have you pulled the drive shaft out and inspected it yet? Did you check the screws in the spur and pinion gears yet. I don't think one of your drive shafts broke, but the best thing to do is pull the one that is not spinning the prop and check it. Also you should note that there is a set screw in the out drive right where the shaft comes out of the boat and connects to the short shaft that the prop is on. That set screw has been known to come loose. You need to fully inspect the drive train. Take it all apart and check each and every connection. One quick test I just thought of is to hold the prop still with one hand and try to turn the spur gear with the other, It should not turn. If it does, look to see if you can find where the loose connection is.
Hope that helps.

Good greif man, quit your whining. You don't have to own a Villian to know how to fix the problem.

You'd think in your 14+ years of RC experience you'd know how to turn a screwdriver and dissasemble and test things to find out what's wrong.
