Sunday was very interesting. I decided to bring my Aquacraft Hammer EP to the Hudson River to play with. When we got there, the wind had caused the water to become a 1 foot chop. So I drove it for a minute at very low speeds and then I turned around and throttled it hard to get some air off the waves. Well, I hit the second wave and got air, then my Hammer did a 1/2 backflip and landed upside down. Luckily the current carried it back to the docks in 10 minutes. It had 2 cups of water in it but otherwise it was OK.

So here is my question: What should I do to stop this? I bent the trim tabs up more for better speed before I left my house. I assume your answer will be to put the trim tabs back down to keep the bow down, but then when I go with the waves instead of against them, I am afraid I will submarine it alot.

Maybe some of you will tell me not to drive it in a 1 foot chop, but I like to do it so stopping is not the answer.

My suggestion is to either get a Kyosho surfer dude or one of those wave choppers or I have also seen Jet Ski replicas, all of these are self righting boats.
No matter how many adjustments you make or how hard you try not to, in 1 foot chop, the boat is going to flip sooner or later.

Yeah....My friend has a Reef Racer so we could probably drive that in the rough water. But I can still beat him in races

turn the reef racer into a brushless thats what im working on right now. so that way i can drive it in huge waves and still have speed.

That sounds like a good idea, but the Reef Racer is already pretty far down in the water with the stock electronics when stopped. That might upset the fragile balance it has. But, I may be wrong and you'll probably end up with a fast wave jumping boat!
