With your budget in mind, I think you should get the Hammer EP. It also comes in Nitro but I think if you are a beginner, you should stick with electric. Nitro is not as reliable and can be very frustrating especially on the water. If its not running well it makes it that much harder to get the boat back when it konks out in the middle of the lake.

yea, unless you are experienced with nitro i would say stay away.

You might be able to find a used villain ex on ebay for about $175-$200. Ive heard they go about 20mph but im not sure exactly i guess it depends on how much you spend on batteries.

I would go with a Traxxas boat for sure. One of their villeins (14.4 or 7.2) would be perfect for what you what to do.

Thats true cr85nut, but if you are like me you would rather have something new, and the Hammer cost less so he could spend more money on one of the most important aspects of electrics, (the batteries).

yeah that would be a pain with it shutting off in the middle of the lake. i have nitro cars but having a nitro boat might be too much upkeep. what about this. its nitro though. 6052997977 its on ebay.

what kind of water are you gunna be running in i dont think that dolphin will handle very much chop where as a deep vee or catamaran will handle a good amount of chop.

Those dolphins are absolute trash...stay away from them, they are also slow, as in my modded nitro vee would blow past it like nothing and thats not saying alot, Im only pushing 25mph, I have a hammer ep and love it, Im sure the nitro hammer is also a great boat, nitro vees can be had cheaply, they need a little tweaking and upgrading to run real well, but seem to like to flip over, I have flipped mine twice going no faster than 25mph, today it flipped and I wasnt even going fast, just tight turn and It cought a wake or something and over it went, I'd get one of the two hammers or a CEN aquajet...

The nitros flip easier because the center of gravity is higher. I believe there is probably something you can do about it, but since I am not into nitro boats I don't know what that is. But I do know that the motor sits higher than an electric and thats what makes the COG higher.

i'm gonna run on semi choppy water.ok i'll stay away from dolphins. i'm seriously thinking about a nitro vee now. the problem is i'd be running it in a lake that we cant swim in. so would if it flips over? it wouldnt sink would it? doesnt it have foam in it? i could probably wait until the small tide brings it in or bring a fishing pole to try and hook it and bring it back in. this guy wants about a hundred for a nitro vee and he said the controller or electronics were bad. he said he thought it was just the controller. i have spare servoes and an extra controller. hopefully the servos would fit if they needed replaced. you have to break in the engine too right. if its brand new?

I dont know how big your vehicle to get to the lake is but i use a 2 person inflatable raft that i got from walmart for like $20.00 and it works great for getting my brothers gas boat when it dies.

Before you consider Nitro, Make sure there won't be a problem with the noise. Or you may find yourself with a nitro boat and no where to run it.[:@]
