Default Battery Question

I was wondering if anyone knew what the difference between SCX and SCR type NiCd batteries is. SCR type batteries by the same manufacturer are significantly more expensive than SCX. Could I expect a significant performance improvement from SCR batteries?

SCR cells will have a lower internal resistance, so they will deliver more power more quickly. They will potentially allow your boat to go faster, but cells alone will not double your boat's speed.

Do you think the performance upgrage is worth the additional expense? Seems a lot of money for a NiCd battery pack to me.

It it were me, I'd invest in a NiMH pack instead. The NiMH chemistry is much better than NiCds and will give more power and longer run times. I'd not buy NiCds today unless I wanted the cheapest packs possible for a toy boat.

Thanks for the reply. I intend to upgrade to NiMH in the future but it's not in the budget right now. My charger is limited to NiCd batteries so I'm stuck with them for the moment. Anyway, sounds like I'd be better off with the cheaper non-SCR type for now.

Are Lithium Ions better yet ? More power output ? More time ?

HEy
I saw a guy at my lhs with a Li-Po pack in his boat. It said it had 6400 mAh and it was the same weight as one NI-MH pack. He had a double brushless system in his boat. He had a villian EX hull he said he bought off eBay. Then I watched him go to the lake behind our LHS and they have a speedometer there. THe boat went 62.4mph on the speedometer. it was Hard to believe. Then this Cop came by after work to get some parts for his boat. Then he used his speedometer and it went 63.1. THen he said it did't even get close to that speed when he had NI-MH
