I am thinking of building a new boat and was wondering how fast it will go with my setup compared to a friend of mines setup. Im going to be putting two Graupner speed 500 motors in 2 mini jet drives on a 6 cell 7.2v battery in a 31 inch deep vee hull. My friend is using a 24 inch deepvee with 1 540 motor on a 6 cell battery as well. Will my boat be faster than his? By how much?

Randy,
Just from what you describe and not having any experience with either boat, I'd have to say your buddy will win. Jet drives are notoriously inefficient, plus with the additional length/weight of your boat, you're at a disadvantage. Could I be wrong? Of course! But I doubt it...

hi randy!
i have a 18" boat with a mini-jet, it runs ok, fast but not enough. but very good scale appearance. if you want speed, go with a prop driven, if you want scale, looks and a bit of speed, you can use the jet drive.
you're friend will probably win.
