Default Offset Rudders?

Hey,
I'm a newbie in the world of RC Boating and was wondering what the advantage is to offset rudder setups. I would think having the rudder in the center would give the best performance for turning either direction. I was thinking about buying the SuperVee 27 and noticed that it had this same kind of offset rudder setup. Whats the deal? Thanks.

I'm pretty new to this too, and like you the SV27 obviously caughtmy attention and I am awaiting my preordered one now. I would assume that the offset rudder would be superior in almost any case where the prop either is near the surface or causing cavatation, because it would allow the rudder to run through less disturbed water where the liquid is not mixed with any sort of gasses, and is therefore more dense on average allowing for more control over the boat.

One advantage that people find out about is that it's a lot easier to swap props or pull the shaft or cable out for greasing.
The rudder is in cleaner water so it helps to turn better.

In my personal experience, an offset rudder turns better one way than the other. It turns better on the side that the rudder is mounted.
