I am planning to build a micro-vee sometime in the future( about one year, once i can get enough cash to fund it)and am in need of some tips for electronics, speed controllers, drive shafts, props, and pretty much everything else i would need. this is my first build and any tips would be great!!!

once more, I NEED AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE ON HOW TO BUILD THIS MICRO!!! I,personally, dont want hundreds of dollars of work to sink to the bottom of my lake.

doent seem that micro I used big boat equiptment in an 18" toy boat. Personally I'd use a surface drive with an octura prop. To a direct drive brushless motor or 600-700 series motor. Offset rudder, turn fins, 12 cell 14.4v, an esc, theres so many choices

Its my first boat project and an outboard motor usually comes with the motor flex shaft and prop.

also do you know the correct speed controller and other electronics for this boat to work?

I would find a direct drive brushless setup to work with. I think the boat will be hard to get to run right with an outboard on the back.

I agree, its hard enough to get it to run right with anything but the stock set up.

well, maybe your right about the outboat, ive cheked out other micro boat threads and found the back is almost underwater, even with a inboard direct. The brushless idea sounds good, plus i found a 600 flex or direct drive setup(withprop) for around $60, and a 700sc for 48 dollars. here are the links

Also I need some tips about the speed controllers and servos, along with radio gear, for the brushless and brushed 6 $ 700's

I think i might try to use an inboard motor with a flex shaft going to a steerable outdrive, I fund some good ones on offshoreelectrics.com & was wondering if a jet drive would be possible, I have seen some run by a 700 brushed motor at hobby-lobby

Ya know for $300.00 you can get a nice 27" ARTR SuperVee 27 from Aquacraft, or Hobbyhobby . It's brushless and nearly 38mph out of the box.

Okay, so the boat I was looking at wasnt considered a micro, but does it really matter???

besides I have been looking at that 13" gecko and am starting to like it
the hull & hardware is just over 100$ and I could get a really good brushless and esc for around 100-150$ I just hope the boat can still float with all that stuff in it, that thing could get lost in my pocket

It is a very fun little boat. Mine floats fine with a 400 Feigao brushless, Hacker 40 amp esc and ten 2/3A 1400mah batteries. Although I am taking out two of the cells, its a little over powered. (Understatement of the year) lol The next thing I need to do is either find or have someone make some micro trim/turn fins to help keep it under control.

Im thinking about puttting a flex shaft in that gecko and using a steerable inboard/outboard.

call me crazy, but would it be possible to put a 700sc in a gecko. It probably wont work but I saw a vid of a guy with a nitro powered gecko, and that makes me think anything, that doesn't weigh more than two pounds could be put in there.

700? I think a 400 series motor is big in that boat.

Im just kidding about the 700, that thing could get my brothers 30" boat to skip chop. If it were in a gecko........... well imagine hitting a wave and suddely owing the only boat that can "leap a building in a single bound."

anyway, since I have a year or so before I can buy this boat(due to a loan being paid back) I have been looking at other micro boats and noticed the inside of a micro iceburg
can easily fit two 400 brushlesses on each side of the transom where the hull is in the water and not just one big motor in the middle. Has anyone ever tried this, and dont worry gecko lovers i wont throw out the gecko idea, the iceburg might just be a future, future project.

I dont mean I am using a loan for the boat, the loan was for my SW36, i didnt have enough cash, i was short about........$196, but I needed to get the boat before summer ended or I would never have enough time to use it. Besides I have about 1500$ but its being put in savings for my car.

by the way Im just a freshman in high school, I dont really get a regular income


anyway, about the gecko, a 400 brushless with ten cells will get this little boat in the low 40's, or so ive heard. but if there is even a little chop it would either become a plane or a torpedo. either way is not good but it would be hard to give up the speed. to give you an example of the potential of this boat there is a video of it with a nitro, I would have guess it was going around 35-38 mph- if you want to see it for yourself the website is

I can still buy alcohol with plastic, I think that would make it worse lol
