Default Is it going to blow up?

I have purchased all the electronics and the hardware for my up coming FE project. I want to know if I am going to damage the motor, This will be my setup.
(2) 7 cell packs, Feigao motor 9L, Hacker Master 70/Navy with BEC, Am I going to damage anything?

...did you light the fuse?

We won't know until we know what kind and size of hull (hydro, mono, cat, etc.) you're running and what prop...and even then you will still have to be careful on your first few runs. I would run for about 20-30 sec. then bring it in for a heat check. If it's fine...run a little longer and check again.

Which size motor is it? Here's their datasheet.

Hull type, size, weight, and what prop are VERY important factors when determining what setup will work. You could have everything right except the prop and bang...there goes the motor or ESC whichever is more expensive[:@]. Also you could have all the right equipment in the wrong boat. What I mean is the setup that will be perfect for a hydro won't be in a mono and vice versa. I'm no expert on this FE stuff but, I have learned alot from RCU and the people here that share info so I will help as much as I can. Research some other brushless setups in similar size monos and that should give you an idea on what props you can use.

So is your motor a 540 size 9L?

9L - RPM/V = 2731 So...14(cells) x 2731 = 38,234 RPM's under load. That is too high for a mono. For a mono you'll want around 20-25K RPMs. 8(cells) x 2731 = 21,848 8 cells will get you closer to what you want running direct drive. To run 14 cells I think you'd need a gear reduction with that motor.

Don't fret it...I did the same thing when I ordered a motor for my Gecko (I also ordered a 9Turn in the 400 size). It was wanting to spin 40K RPMs but monos just won't do it. The motor would over heat. So, I kept the motor to put in a micro hydro I'm now building this winter. I went down the 12Turn motor which has more torque and it is just as fast because I wasn't able to go full throttle with the 9Turn...not even close. The boat just wouldn't go that fast without getting out of control quick.

You might be able to just run the 7 cells and have good speed. Besides the boat would be a lot lighter.

How many cells does the boat run stock?

Run it on seven cells with a smaller prop, water cool and you should be OK. Make sure that it is watercooled. For the maiden run you might even use a six cell and see if everything stays cool.
