What does .05 motor mean ? Is it a motor with no adjustable timing which would make it a stock motor for some of the racing classes or does it have something to do with the size of shaft that comes out of the motor ?

I think it's the size of the can which is equivalent to a 540. I don't think it has anything to do with timing adjustability or whether it's stock or not. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Way back in the early electric RC car racing days, they picked a common sized motor. It was called a 05 can. Originally, 05 meant it had the approximate power of a .05 nitro powered engine.
I have one newer 05 that can pull 45amps. @ 12 volts for 5 to 10 second bursts. You can not turn the shaft with your fingers because of the magnets.
