Default medium cats

It might be awhile before I move to one, but I've been checking out cat hulls. I like the Aeromarine Mean machine 29". Funrcboats.com has one RTR w/a brushed Cordite. I was also thinking of strating with a hull and just putting one together on brushless, but this RTR boat will run between 40 and 50 according to the specs. Does anybody have one of these? Anybody have any thoughts?

With the hull, or are you just referring to the Cordite. I'm assuming that's a "Cordite SS1".

chances are its the BL version of the cordite . . even with that motor you wont see 50mph . but with the ss1 then you will se about 35mph or so

I assumed it was an SS1 since it doesn't specify "brushless" and FDM doesn't list anything other than a 775 Cordite like the one I have. I seem to remember reading somewhere about a nemsis brushless motor w/a Cordite label on it. But that was a pretty old post somwhere if I remeber right. Just curious. How did you determine this one was indeed brushless? If that's the case, then I am even more interested in the rtr.

Cool! I hope your right. I'm just going to send them an email asking for more details on the drivetrain.

Here's the response...

The old Coredite motor is no longer available. We are able to build this
boat with a Graupner 700 series brushed set up (Jeti Navy ESC) right now.
We are working on a brushless version of this RTR and it will use a Hacker
motor and ESC, but the project is still in the works. Expect the brushless
set up to be approx. $250 more than the current price. I hope to launch
this brushless set up in January.

I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if I can assist you
further.

im going to get a ruder with duel water pickup's and run one of the lines to the esc to help. The prop wash is just cool enough to keep if from shutting down.and the micro scat cat is a blast. it run's the high 20's to low 30's I don't like the abs but for the price you cant beat it.

regardless of water cooling . you get that motor over 170 degrees and you can kiss the power good bye
what are you gearing for that trans and what prop ?

yes 29.95 for the hull . i would probably fiberglass over it

Exactly what I was thinking. To go a bit further, I was thinking credit the $150.00 or so for the brushed setup and THEN add the $250.00 for the brushless. Net increase...$100.00. I'd be all in at the point.

Wow! With that, I could assume that w/a brushless setup (which ever one that ends up being) and a straight driveline that it wouldn't top 40mph.

yeah the motor is about 60 dollars and the esc i would presume about 100 . so 160 +the 250 is 410 dollars
i could but a esc and BL motor separate and make it less then 400 . . . BUT it wouldn't be good

I guess I need to consider builing it myself. Now I have to consider using a transmission. I hate when I talk myself out of something I like.....[:@]
