I am using that graupner 480BB motor. I have all of my other electronics from my old boat. I might try to make a custom rudder but I'm not sure. I still need to buy the motor, battery, laquer and epoxy for the hull, and a flexcable and other misc. hardware. Are you for sure making one or not? IS your BBY boat running yet?

I got the sponsons of my rigger done. I went with a really simple design that was recommended from another site. Tommorow I need to finish all of the trimming on the hull. I will get pictures tommoroow b/c my brother is gone and I'm not sure where his camera is. I still need to mount the sponsons. I will do that late tonight when I get home from fishing. When you see pictures tommorow the hull should be slmost completely done beside epoxy and sealing, ect.

What are you making your hull out of? I used pine for the main hull and balsa for the sponsons and all other stuff.

I dont think he would make one. but Im not sure. I just got back from fishing from him and I was talking to him about it.

I am finishing my boat tonight and tommorrow morning. I am using wood glue to glue everything together b/c it is very strong, but I need to make sure I seal it well b/c it will come off in water. I got a bunch of tips from a few sites about building riggers. One site suggested that you mount the sponson rods on top of the sponsons. I did this. It explained why but it was really complicated. But I did it anyway b/c they said it was the best way to attach them. I also switched the sponsons that I made to more "simpler" ones. I got the idea off a 6 cell brushless SAW rigger. They are very easy to build and they are supposed to provide a lot of lift.

btw, I will drive it at the pond by my house and the fairhaven pond.

sweet. make sure you post some picsa of it whenever you get them. sounds like youve done a lot of research on it. good luck!! i hope mine turns out as good as yours. so you are using the 480 bb race. im just using the 480 race 7.2v. you will have more power than i will. my esc cant handle the draw of the bb cause it is rated 15a and the bb pull 16a and probably more on water. o well, i hope it is goin good for you.

your boat will probably weigh less than mine, though, b/c mine is made out of a lot of pine. If you make yours completely out of balsa, it should be about equal b/c of the weight difference. what plans are you following?

I am going to have to buy some nice, adjustable hardware. For riggers this is a must b/c the prop angle and rudder setup is the most important factor to how it runs. I will NEED adjustable hardware to make it run right. I am going to be doing a lot of setup on the rear end before it runs good. I have heard of people who spend hours setting up their riggers prop angle. (prop angle is the most important factor)

I'm not sure what hardware I'm using yet. Ill figure that out when the time comes that I need it.
They have good Midwest balsa at sidetrax hobbies. I got 3 sheets of balsa (4 inches wide by 24 inches long rectangular pieces) for 8 bucks. I think they also have some at hobby lobby.

idk for sure because im just getting in to building and seting up riggers. but i would use the 9l if you use 7-8 cells. a 7s would be an extremely hot setup on 8-cells and hot on 7.
