Hi, i'm from Italy. I have a Kyosho Twinstorm 800, and i'm triyng to upgrade the system to one motor (700 Neodym) with new regolator 12 cells.

Now the problem is cut the shaft, because i haven't never made it before. I must to shorten the shaft, for connect the motor with this reached:

Can you have some tricks for my job ?
Sorry for my bad english !

I tried finding a good pic of the interior, but nothing. Don't you have to cut the shaft and stuffing box? I woud think switching to a flex cable would work better, but will be more work. If you think all you need to do is cut the shaft a dremel tool with a reinforced cutting wheel. If not a hack saw will do.

Still I have not cut it... before, i must modify the big support, for adapting and fix the motor.
I think, i will use a saw for cut the shaft... Am i in mistake ?
I would make a similar job :

Well, I would guess since you have to mod the motor mount too, you might get away with cutting it. Any small toothed hardened steel saw will do, like a hack saw or bow saw. Make sure you dont bend the shaft when you do it, thats why I prefer a cutting wheel, since you dont have to put pressure on the shaft. I'm also assuming the stuffing box(the tube the shaft goes into, just has a bushing pressed into the end. If you have to cut this also just carefully remove the bushing and replce after cutting.
You might want to cut the shaft first before you mod the mount, since you might be able to better align the motor, knowing where the shaft is going to be. Also take your time drilling the holes for the motor, measure three times and drill once. Make sure it's center left to right very well and like I was hinting to before, you probably will want to adjust the height of the motor to the new shaft position.

Thanks for the precious tricks. In the week end I will prepare the support motor, and monday I will begin to work on the shaft.
Another doubt i have... How many condensers I must put on the Neodym 700 ?
This forum is very cool. Thanks really.[sm=regular_smile.gif]

ORIGINAL: Quicksilver
I think you mean capacitors, you should use 3, also I would recommend a schottky diode.

I am very interested to see how your modifications worked for you. Is the boat better than stock now? I am currently setting up a twin HV Maxx Twinstorm 800, but am a bit concerned about the additional weight and achieveing perfect syncronisation of two Brushless motors, so I am looking out for direct drive single motor conversions as well.
Cheers from Australia,
Simon
