i am dropping a brushless kit in my hammer ep as you can tell by my name i am a nitro-head and don't know a whole lot about this i am going to buy a feigao XL motor for it which is faster
540 6XL 2,779 RPM / Volt
540 14XL 1,191 RPM / Volt
or would the AMMO motor be faster i'm looking to get back into electrics i ran big brushed boats for a long time but i'd like to try brushless thanks ahead of time J.W.

The 6xl motor would be faster. You should do a search for my hammer with 8L motor thread. I run it only on 6 cells and its way to fast for the hull. Are you going to convert to a surface drive? If not then the stock assembly really cant deal with all that power.

first off, a hammer will not handle fiegao xl, let alone 12 cells. you could use an "L" series and ill be fast enough. btw, i would convert to surface drive if you do this.
above all, i would get a new HULL, y waste your time on a hammer when you could by the villain hull for 50$ and put a fiegao 8xl in that. then you would have more of a boat. this is not the only set up, you could use a bby hull or something else.

i have decided to use an old aqua jet 775 hull with a 6xl in it and i'll run on 14 cells that the boats nearly shot brushed motor runs on.

Still sounds hot, I'm not a brushless expert, more of a beginner, but a 6xl sounds like too much
edit; maybe I'm wrong, but still havent seen someone really take a aqujet to the limit, might perform better than a villain though at the kinds of speeds you'll hit.

AND.... if you still question it i can do one simple thing...
well umm uhhh have you guessed it yet...
maybe just back off the throttle that seems to work on a semi choppy day with my .45 rigger sorry if it sounds that way but i'm not trying to be rude why not push this thing to its limits? heck i'll do it!

I would be looking for an ammo motor personally...
They go like a cut cat and the SV27 esc seems to handle them ok too. I have seen up to an X445 prop used with it with pretty good speed, about 40mph in both an OM26 and electrovee hulls. That is also on 12 cells. Surface drive of course.......
Reason I recommend this is that I have a 3200kv motor in my 26in wildthing on 10 cells and am finding myself dropping prop sizes just to keep the amps down, I am currently down to an X438 and it is up around a peak of 70amps which tends to heat stuff up quite a bit, the speed is up there but the bits aren't very appreciative. The ammo motors are really good for torque.

Depends on the application and intended prop choices. Generally speaking, a low KV motor will have a huge amount of torque compared to a high KV motor, it isn't about which one is faster, a lot of it comes down to how you use the power. From what I have seen, you can get a stock supervee motor doing 40mph on 12 cells, you may get a higher KV motor to do the same but you could also be using a lot more power to do it if propped too high. High KV motors are usually reserved for things like riggers where you can run a tiny prop but have it spinning at a great rate of RPM, just because it wants to spin at 30-40,000 rpm doesn't mean it will if your prop is too big which results in massive amp draw and a very short runtime. Personally I would still go the ammo, it is rated to 2300kv whereas the 6xl is nearly 2800, I think the ammo is a safer bet.

running with an octura x447 what motor would give me more speed runtime is no factor i have 3 twin chargers and about 12 ib 4200 packs my brushed rigs used to run on which one would give the most speed with a prather s215?

An X447 is a pretty big prop for any of these motors man. If I were you, I would be starting with about an X440 and then working your way up. Once again the ammo motor is going to be a better choice, although if you intend to run a prop as big as a 47 then you might want to look at something a bit bigger and better as far as motor is concerned but then again, it will start to get quite expensive. I would be looking for a little less prop maybe an X445, that I know you can run an ammo and an SV27esc with a good 40mph on 12 cells.

Would a 6xl be faster than the ammo with an x443?

I sure was and then I decided to take this a step further so I sold one of my nitro monos putting me on a $2,350 budget and I also sold a hydro I'm still wondering about speed...
