thanks for all the advice, if the weather turns around I'll give it another go. It does seem like this thing could really move, setup properly. Taylor, I was thinking the same thing.

kahnen- yep just like a buoy, some scary stuff right there. At this point your boat is the one and only thing making me think this boat can work correctly.

oh and here's a pic of how it was setup for the first run, as far as batteries go. You guys think maybe they should be up where they would normally be in a Villain? I thought that was too far forward, but hey this is all pretty much new to me.

ok, ran again today with batteries forward and trim neutral. Much much better, but not perfect, still porpoises. I'll tell ya, I never knew what fast was till now, this is quite scary about 95% of the time I'm at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, only going WOT for a second maybe here and there. If I had a way to retrieve the boat I'd go nuts. It did barrel roll once actually, but at high speed and somehow ended up......upright.
so here's the setup
and video(sorry no one to hold the camera, tried to get some good angles though)
[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E9AIZ173B8]VIDEO[/link]

edit; btw anyone wondering about my temps from running below WOT; motor cold, esc cold, batteries warm, ran over 10 minutes, I just got to the point where I was anxious over what was happening inside the boat and stopped. It was perfectly fine, about 1/4 cup of water.

Yeah its looking better. I can't believe the packs are actually up where the original battery trays are. It doesn't look to be running to wet either. Couldn't tell in the vid, is it still chine walking? You may have to find a bigger place to run, to let her stretch her legs more

it does get tough in that creek, however if anything happens at least it would be close to shore. Waves stat to mix it up quick, and it seems to cause some walking. On the subject of how it rides, really light! On more than a few passes I'd hit WOT and I could see the boat was clearly just riding on the prop. If anything that's what makes it tough to control.

I could see this boat being a lot of fun out on a lake, with a boat on hand for rescue. Of course this run makes me feel confident it wont fail. One thing always on my mind on this creek, as well as the lake is it dumps over this.... [:-]

I am still in shock, the only other propped boat I've owned is a regular villain, not even comparable. guess I've got all winter to figure out what it needs. Last night I went through the video and slowed it down to 1/8 speed, the boat is rarely touching the water. It's going to need some decent sized turn fins and tabs.

btw, yes I have actually thought about running the jet boat over those falls, it was found to be suicidal......duh

Couldn't you lower the cog a little more by cutting out a hole, same size as battery pack, where the battery pack is currently sitting? Then fiberglass a little container from the top part of the hull to the bottom part. So you still have that degree of safety by having the hull air tight, the batteries more secured and boat have lower centre of gravity.

Just an idea, noticed it was an issue for my buddy's villian the other night. Was thinking it would be smarter to have the heavy stuff on the bottom of the hull, not a couple inches above.

look closer I did cut it out. and I was thinking about making a little box, seems appropriate. I might just use a strap across the top to hold em, and a box out of ply, I wont seal it though....not only the top, but also the bottom, I'll drill holes in it, I dont want water pooling around the batteries. My moto with water proofing, if you cant absolutely waterproof something, dont try to. I go for water resistant, with batteries, this means wide open, everything else, balloons
I dont know if you meant putting a top on it, but thought I'd throw out some advice.

video?????
I know, by the time I decided to run the boat it was too late, it takes 45 minute to charge each pack, and I had to work.....wasnt doable. Even worse, I have to work 9-5 everyday after today till saturday. Dont know how I'll fit it in...it'll be like 25degrees at 8am and dark at 5pm. [:@] Bought some aluminum for some turnfin/trim tabs, going to try to make them one piece.....less holes.

p.s. oh and if I ran it at 8am, it would be in a black pinstriped three piece suit. If I do it, I'll have to go in front of the camera once or twice, so you can how ridiculous it looks. Not exactly the right attire for this.

Oh come on, 9-5 is not that bad. I have 8-5 and an hour drive to and from work mon-friday. [&o] Don't you just hate winter - short days.

That's not cool.

You can buy a decent 2 person raft for something like 30 dollars. 2 cheap plastic oars may cost $20. For $50 dollars you have a very valuable raft that will allow you to run in colder weather a lot more safely! I won't even float my boats if I do not have a fail proof recovery boat. By that, I mean something I can get in to.

The Boat gods are cruel...
I like my Boats to run wet instead of porposing worse then Shamu at a Seaworld show...

I Think the Villian is much better suited to the jet drive conversion then the 700
