Default Best motor prop combos super V27

Hi this will be my last new thread for a while...i would like Proud owners of Super Vees to post there best motor and prop set ups...Some guys can include speeds if they have gps,but not everyone has those...there are several high performance motors and prop available and this section is for those who would like to share they're experiences using combinations...things use should include are battery, run times, water conditions, with or without extra turn fin,was bottom scuffed, handling characteristics, out of the hole performance increase or decrease...and any other specs you might think a new bee or seasoned vet might benefit from...this is to help New and old super vee owner make the right choices in motor and prop combinations and save boats from burning up and getting lost at sea do to bad setups....First off i have had my boat 5 days and i dont have a gps so i don't know the speed..second i use stock motor and have used 3800 packs from duratax with good performance...third, i have used stock prop as well as grimracer40/52/3 which i had a pro sharpen and balance...my boat was'nt scuffed at the time of yesterdays last test...boat handles well and gets some good air but as long as it was calm did'nt want to blow over...both props work fine...i think grim prop works better but being a boat novice it hard to tell...i do recall batteries getting pretty warm on both props, but i think batteries got hotter as well as motor with the grim prop..i will run tommorrow stock prop again and check to see for sure...anyway all mod posts will be appreciated and try to give brand names and model number/sizes etc...so new bee will know exactly what they need...me especially...thanks guys and keep testing and posting..Lets make the SUPER in super vee seem like an under statement...Instead of people watching your boat and saying man thats a fast little boat, lets replace it with frases like holly crap!! and what was that!!!... or a look like this[:-]

I am running a stock motor and either 3600 or 4200 mAh NiMH 6-cell packs. I am using a GrimRacer 42x55 prop as was recommended to me by the GrimRacer himself.

It gets on step fast, and moves out nicely. No idea of actual speed, but everyone who sees the boat run (all experienced boaters) comments on how well it seems to go.

I hope to get GPS on it this weekend. I'll report back if I get to do it.

Trinity 7.2v 4200mah $49.99 (got my LHS to match towers price) I will be putting the stock motor back in for testing as well and I use a onboard GPS for speed readings.

Waxing creates more stiction and will take away speed not add to it (FACT)

42.1 today before the boat decided to flip and not recover.
stiction is the suction the the boat makes with the waters surface scuffing the bottom help to reduce it and give more speed.

It did not sink but it did take on a bit of water (the boat is fine) some of the tape blew off the hatch beause it was used for an earlier run too so it did not stick that great. I'm charging batteries right now. I will be heading to the pond around noon.

avanti, i just got back i flipped my vee was running 7 cell electrifly3000s which work about the same as my 3800 6 cell duratrax...i sent out my little recue boat but my batties did'nt hold a charge after a week and i ended up taking a swim...its hard i swim with sneakers on hold ing boat in one hand . i tossed it and swam more then pushed it to shore...real deep lake and theres a 12 foot gator in there they call jaws, but my vee was taking on water the bow was straight up like the titanic after about 6 mins capsized ..i had to make a choice my boat or possibly a grusome death ..i thought about it for a second and realised if i don't save my boat i may never find it again and what are the chances of a gator attacking anyway 1 out 10... anyway dried it a nd ran fine bow had about 20 onces of water..only alittle got in box,..ps as far as i know there know gator that was a bul**** story, but being that this is florda there really could be as this lake is 17 ft deep ..hay i starting to scare my self now

the boat will not sink my boat was bobbin for over an hour the second time I ran it. Now I never hit the water without taping the hatch shut. Beleave me if there are fish there are gators. Take a big flash light to the lake tonight and patrol for red eyes. I don't smin in freshwater here.

I just got done with a few mods and am heading back to the lake as soon as my trinities are repeaked.
fingers crossed on hitting 45 but I don't think I have the prop for it, we'll see.

avanti. i added fin also and mine turns pretty good..is you rrudder alined straight...you might have to adj by losening screws and moving it a bit...but stabilizing the rear transome is the main reason i think grim added it to his setup...more stable the boat more power to the water...

I'm not sure of the port fin yet I have more testing to do (yes I need to readjust the rudder because of the 2nd fin) I need more props to test.

There are long threads on waxing vs. scuffing.
