1/12 miss bud brushless
hello i'm new here and would love some input. i have a miss budweiser nitro that i want to make electric, brushless any and all input would be great! honestly i don't know the firs thing about brushless, just that they are fast and wont stall like my nitro, way out in the middle of the lake. 60mph is my goal and cost isnt a huge factor please anyone with experience please help. thanks!

That speed might be to much on that hull at 60mhp. Proboats hydros hull are cheaply made and likes to crack alot at the rear wings at the rudder area sponsons spoilers. I have three Miss buds. Also depends on what hull you got?? If you got the first gen wich has a strait shaft, that hull is realy proune to realy crack alot and thinner hull. The second gen, flex drive one has a better and thicker hull then the first gen. Your best better speeds is maybe 40- 50 mhp.

RE: 1/12 miss bud brushless
I am not sure how fast it will go It will depend on which prop and how hot things get if it is working too hard but 40 MPH would be good
the motor is 8XL fiego and turns about 2000 RPM per volt applied
I have 2 lipo batteries each one is a 2S1P means 2 cells hooked together in series in the pack and then I hook another 2S1P in series
This gives me 4S1P ( around 16 volts when fully charged)
The lipos are 4350 maph at 20 C which means I can draw 4.350 amps X 20 = 87 amps
Having the batteries in 2 packs lets me put the weight on each side of the motor not all on one side if they were 4S1P in one pack
there is not enough room for a thicker pack on one side anyway
You could use one pack of 4S1P but they would have to sit on top of the motor area putting the weight up higher on the boat not down low like on mine
The esc is a hacker 77 amp

RE: 1/12 miss bud brushless
thank you. now more questions, please forgive me.. where do you get the 20 c(whats the 20c) to multiply by your 4.350 amps?
also your setup is 16 volts total, times 2000 rpm/volt =32,0000 max rpm? whats your run time? granted you cant hold at 32,000 rpm's the whole time.
thanks for taking the time to explain all of this to me!

RE: 1/12 miss bud brushless
lipo batteries have a C rating which means how much power (amps) can be pulled from them without damageing them
this should be stated on the label of the battery as a C rating
I have a newer set of 4350 with a 25C rating 4350 X 25 = 108.75 amps
my older ones 4350 with a 20C rating 4350 X 20 = 87.00 amps
any motor turning a prop will draw a certain amount of amps
put a bigger prop on and it will draw more amps because it will make it harder to turn
I only have a 77 amp esc in this boat so that is my weakest link at the moment and I will only be able to prop up as much as it will take before the esc over heats and shuts down
If I had a 120 amp esc then the batteries become the weak link
At some point the motor will be getting too hot if it is worked too hard and then it is the weakest link and so on and so on

If money isn't a real issue , buy another hull. You're talking a rather cheap hull that can't take high brushless power. Buy a GFK fibre glass hull instead. Lots of Budweiser hulls are made by good manufacturers like Hydro&Marine and stuff like that.
My friend has a 1/8 scale Budweiser from H&M and it flies with 5S2P lifepo cells.

Sure , here it is :
H&M : http://www.hydromarine.de/ and click on the hydroplane icon on the left
Model Hobby Zavarski USA : http://206.206.85.209/xtdoc/catalogu...e&store=mhzusa
Team Lindenau : http://www.team-lindenau.de/ = My own hydroplane is the Primus
Schnippie : http://www.modelltechnik-schnippkowe....php/cPath/1_7
Gundert : http://www.gundert.de/ka11.htm
This should be enough. These are all top quality hulls from top quality manufacturers. Nothing comes close to these.
And they all speak English , just drom them an email if you have questions. I'll be here aswell , no problem.
