Default Which One?

G'day guys,

I'm 16 years of age and I have been watching the forums for a while now, so I thought I would join.

I'm in the market for my first RC electric boat. I have had RC stuff before but I would like to have a boat this time instead of a car or truck.

I have been looking on ebay and I just wanted to know what do you think of these RC boats? Also, I want one that I can mod and upgrade a bit cause I'd like to have a fast boat!

NQD Arrow Wind

NQD 757 High Wind

NQD Storm Hydro

All help will be greatly appreciated!

I have never heard anything good about boats from them. What's your budget? Do you have a charger? Do you have any batteries you'd like to use in the new boat. Do you have a radio system or must it be ready to run? (RTR)

There the ones on ebay. I don't wanna spend no more than $100.00 dollars on one. They come with batteries, controler, everything. If you search on the Australian ebay you'll see the ones I am talking about or I can put up a link for you if you want me to.

I get it but I still think any thread about NQD has been a disapointment. Some people say they aren't concerned about speed until they get it. Then they run it once and start asking how to make it go faster. The concensus is usually to drop it off of something very high. There are a few exceptions. One guy did a nice dual outboard conversion on one and it ran pretty good. (lots of effort there) If I were you I'd try to find a proboat mini-V. Lots of people have had good fun with them in stock form yet they are somewhat upgradable.

Thanks mate!

I want to buy a boat that is in the same price range as the NGD's.

So far I have my eye on the 757 High Wind as many people have modded theres and they really like them. If you can find me a boat aroud the same price but maybe better in quality etc, then I might consider buying it.

If you are talking $24 (not sure what that converts to us) but I doubt I can help. I think a new Mini-V is around $80 us. I think that's with a charger but no battery. (i think)

Start here for Aussie shopping
http://www.*********.com.au/store/index.php?cPath=68

If your budget is $100 you are not going to get a lot.
Do you have any RC gear. Battery packs, Radio gear, charger etc.
I have done a lot of reading and I would say that upgrading a NQD boat is a long and expensive journey.
The radio set they have is very primative......replace that
The battery and charger is going to be of questionable quality............replace them
The motors are cheaply made 380's...............cook them before you replace them
The hull is heavy plastic..........will need work to get it to go fast.
You follow so far ????
I have been down this path of reasearch and will not do a NQD boat myself.
I have hotted up a couple of ABS hulls and am very happy so far.

Have another look on e-bay and start looking for second hand good boats or basically anything that does not have the words "vector thrust" or "NQD"

If in doubt just type "nqd" into the search box here and have a read. I have.
