Recommend a cheap ESC.
I picked up a old kyosho viper form ebay today. I got it for my son to go out to pond with me and it says its the version from 1991.
I didn't think about it,but im pretty sure it doesnt have a ESC.
So let me know where I can order a decent esc for cheap. He will most likely just be running a stock 540,unless its Really slow then we might bump it up 19t or maybe 17t motor. So we dont need nothing real high end,Thanks.

Does it work? If it works then why buy esc for it, if it's 91 might need more than a esc for it. I would suggest waiting to get it and try it out before you spend money on it. Might require more than an esc or be good enough.

Tamiya 101 bk for stock 540 or Dynamite Taser for 15 turn. These are not meant for boats but you just put them in balloon. Both avilable on Fleabay at reasonable prices. There are some cheap ESC's from China if you are willing to wait 2 weeks to get one.

RE: Recommend a cheap ESC.
Very true,,who knows what it will be like from sitting since the early 90's.
Here's the link, see what you guys think....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=003
But it looks like it was just kept in a box and not used much "which means nothing" But just wishful thinking.
And I had MSC on other things,,the are kinda horrible,,they seem to suck up the battery, and could stick when the battery gets to low, thats why I prefer ESC.
One thing is certain,,those batteries are DOA

Hi there
try Hitec EZX-R. Got no idea what is the price in US, but in Europe this ESC costs 38 Euro. It works very well with all 540 stock motors like Graupner Speed 500, Speed 600.

I'm using this one with a 21t motor and it works great. I didn't expect it to work as well as it does http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=PRB2114
