Default 7L, Hydra 120, 2-3 cell lipo

Does this look like possibly a good setup in a outrigger. 7l motor a hydra 120 esc, and 2-3 cell 4000 milliamp lipos. I already have the motor, boat and esc. I am wondering about the batteries? I have 2-2 cells 4000 milliamps batteries right now, but I would prefer the 3 cell 11.1 if they would work!

Really depends on the size of the rigger in my opinion. I run a 7XL on 4s in my 25" Matrix rigger and it moves ok.

In that case I think 2s on a 7L would def work.

So a 2s 7.4 volts, or 2- 2cells that would be 14 volts.

Depends on how you wire them.
If you wire them in series you will have 4s4000mah 14.8 volts.....I think that will be too many volts for a L can motor
If you wire them in parallel then you will have 2s8000mah for longer run times at 7.4 volts ....that is the way I would go in that 6 cell rigger.

With 2cell lipo or 7.4 volts and the 7L motor I would say you can easily run in the mid 40's with that hull. I am sure you could make it go faster with 3s but on that size rigger you will most likey be upside down more that you would like.

Are you looking to run it SAW..Straight only or oval around a course?

How large is this hull?

A 7L will not wake up on 2s for a rigger, that's a better E1 mono setup. 3s and a small 30-32mm prop would be a better starting point if the hull can handle it.

The 7L would be better suited for the 27" mono on 2 cell using a 40mm prop.

A 7S would be better suited for the 24-27'' rigger on 2s lipo and a 30mm prop. You should get up to 50mph.
