Seems like alot of SV stuff transplated into a smaller hull. (noting wrong with that). You'll have to post some videos or at least an impression of how it runs. Do you have other boats?

Hi and Thanks - I do want some custom decals for this boat but need suggestions from a fellow as yourself (expert) - I sure will keep the group informed - This is a great site and my new homepage for now - I am reading and lurking - Should I get the book - Fast Electric Boats or save my money for the Li-pos and charger (still need suggestions) - Steve

Id say save your money. If it was written before last October (to pick a date) it's already out of date. Hobby is changing fast these days. Get the charger. Lipos are probably considered dangerous and cost prohibitive in that book

HI - OK Great - This boat only takes li-pos sais the original owner in the listing when I bought it - He seems a bit elusive but I believe he is quite reliable. He said he would send me the data concerning the best Li-pos to get - The other boat he had came with batteries but I liked this one - Are all li-po batteries similar quality - which company brand shall I get - Steve

Boat should run on any bats with the proper terminals. I don't know what he means there. As for all lipos being the same. No. There are some threads on the front page that address this some. Take a look at those.

There are tons of different LiPo's you can get. Personally I only run Flight Power Cells. Very durable and a large selection of quality cells.

What caught my attention is the 2700kv motor in this hull. It's not quite enough to run 2s 7.4v LiPo and a little bit too much to run 4s 14.8v Lipo.

What motor is this or what is the length/diameter in mm? It is direct drive correct? What voltage or amount of cells was recommended?

I also wouldn't buy the book, save your money and ask questions here.

Yes I noticed that about the motor too- After I bought it - I am an impulsive bugger. So I guess I messed up - Any suggestions Ryan - other than getting a bigger motor - Steve

Steve, I don't know how big that motor is. Judging from the kv, you could run 3s - 11.1v. In my opinion it would be better suited for a boat of this size.

In an email to me the vendor said -

"Keep the voltage under the maximum that the ESC can handle which is a total of 16.8 Volts - which would mean no more that 8.4 Volts on each pack - You should keept it to 7.2 Volts on each pack for a total of 14.4 all together."

How does that sound ?

I personally would run only a 3 cell LiPo pack, but I don't know what motor is being used.

Ryan,
How are you determining 3S based on the Kv on the motor? Just curious. I'm used to the ESC being the limiter but I know the motors also have their limits.

Scott, I'm just going by a theoretical loaded RPM of the motor to be effective with a decent size prop. On a mono I estimate 20000-25000, on a rigger I estimate 33000-38000. for example.

Motors are only limited to amount of current and RPM, ESC's are limited to current and voltage in most cases.

Hi Folks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4SUomK8cR4 - The YouTube file is called "Dolphin at Danford" - I hope it is the link to watch my boat - The wife was filming and did the best she could - The boat - now with a 2mm wire drive (motor turns very freely) and batteries set up in parralel with a new 100 AMP ESC (I smoked the 60 AMP Pulso with batteries in series) - 38 MM Graupner prop - (goes very well - I have the next size up I will try) - Insane speed for me - so I am having a lot of fun - All the parts just got a bit warm (batteries hardly warm) after 4 -5 min runs (lipo's cut-off at 3.2 V per cell) with several runs a day so far! so I am starting to get my money's worth) and like I say I think I have compatable parts for long term fun up at Danford Lake near Kazabazua Quebec in Canada - Thanks-A-Million for all the help, encouragement and Kind Words - Steve

The reason it could only take lipo's is like the blackjack 26.... the esc is programmed to only take nimh batteries. You have to program it otherwise to change it, except in this case it is programmed only for lipo's
