Default Burning up 540 motors

I've burned up two not so cheap 540 motors. One was a integy matrix v10 and the other is a trinity monster 27. They get wet sometimes. They will start getting real hot then basically not work. The windings will be black on one side. Meanwhile my cheapo 21t venom keeps on going. What's up with that? The 27t works a little better in this particular boat.

They are drawing more amps and can not get rid of the excess heat. Prop them smaller and they will perform. Be sure to water cool the cans.

I'm running a 27mm prop submerged and the motors don't get hot until they get wet. I have made some changes to the motor box on my boat and I can keep them drier. Are some 27t motors better than others at handling the occasional wet?

It's been a long long time since I've ran a 540 size brushed motor. I don't ever remember having problems with ones that got wet. However, your hull should have the hatch taped shut so no water enters it.
