Default SV on 7 cells?

Hello, I'm looking at the Supervee as my next boat purchase. I have done some searching and found this battery http://www.rcstation.com/product_inf...e0cef0e6701030 . First off, how do 7 cell batteries work with the stock SV setup? (14 cells, 16.8v total) I have heard mixed opinions on this, some have had overheating problems, and ruined batteries and other have had great success. So what's your take on it? I would love the extra speed, but should I stay safe with two 6 cell batteries?

7 cells are a little faster than 6 cells, but runtime will be short using either (5 minutes). I preffer using two 2s lipo packs (8-10 minutes) with LVC.

I would really try and get the cash for Lipos, check out airthunder.com they can discharge flat and not be damaged. I bring my airthunders in when the boat feels different and its usually around <5% remaining. If you really want 7 cells, the flat pack is nice just remove the wooden battery tray and replace it with velcro. You will need to play with the COG after but thats easy and will make your boat faster. The GP3300 are a more stable and forgiving cell then the IB4200s which tend to die easy and self-discharge fast.

Correct jeeprubicon...the SV27 will drain a battery quick, so your batteries better be good ones. NIMH is a waste of money now days IMO.

I would love some lipo packs but they just aren't in my budget. 100 dollars a pack (ouch). "jeeprubicon2k3" you mentioned GP3300 cells, any idea were to find them? Helihobby has had them sold out for a while now.

Well, if your in the mood... Radio shack sells 6 cell packs that are GP3300s for $25 and if you turn them into side x side(SxS) 7 cells you will be happy. If you get 3 packs you can make 2- 7 cells and have some extras. Remember, batteries should be at the top of your spending list.

I use 6 cells MVIB High Power Stick Pack 4500 mAh NiMH´s and runtime 7-10min, the packs are cheap but still give me great runtime.
Now im looking to buy MVIB (Grepow) UP 4200 mAh and make two 7 cell packs.....runtime probably 1min less??
I´m running stock setup so i hope the cooling works and i don´t burn my motor []
Now after runs the temps are "ok".....i can leave my hand on the motor and don´t burn my skin

I got the 7.2v 5000mah Airthunder packs, they work in almost anything including trucks and cars. I hope they live up to their promises because they feel great.

Anyone have any luck with the Zippy packs (like here http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...dProduct=6265#) I could run two of them in parallel and get a combined capacity of 4400mAh correct? (kinda new to the lipo stuff) That way I could get two sets of batteries for 200 dollars instead of one set for 200 dollars.

My friend just make two sets of 7 cell NiMH packs and when i measured the voltage(after charge) it was over 10 Volts in one pack(so 20.6Volts)? Sv27 ESC handles 18V so w t f ? Does the voltage drop down instantly after connecting to SV27 and u put some load or how can u people run it without burning the ESC?
