i live in michigan so it would probably have to take pretty rough water up to like six inch waves. i'm thinking a catamaran because they seem more sturdier they also have more room so in the future i could fit like 9 or 10 cells. i have a little experience with e-maxx's i've switch two to brushless so that could be a option in the future.

Hi benhojo,

A cat may seem better, but once on the plane, they flip easy on rough water and float very stable, upside down...
I'd advice a deep vee, preferably with a floodchamber to make it flip back up.
Sadly there's no RTR with this feature, as far as I know, so you would have to add that yourself.

If you expect conditions like in the pics, definately get a selfrighting monohull.

Regards, Jan.

I would look for a used Super V 27.

If you want new you will either need more$ or look into smaller rtr's like the mini Rio or mini V.

Well the cost would be minimal as you'd be doing it yourself. I've never seen one in an SV. It would need it too. I wouln't recommend one for 5" waves. The SV is a pond racer. Too fast for that kind of water at 27" long. I don't honestly think there is an affordable RTR that would run in those condidtions without frustration. Possibly the Villin EX? It's a good rough water boat and not quite as fast as the SV. And is upgadeable. (this one has been)
