hey guys the settings on the marine 120 amp esc from HK are as follows

1. running mode a. forward b. forward and reverse

2. lipo cells a.auto b.2 c.3 d.4 e.5 f.6cells

3. low voltage cutoff a. no protection b.2.8v c.3v d.3.2c e.3.4v per cell

4. timing a.0 b.3.75 etc etc etc there are 8 timing settings total

these are the only setting options for this esc.

that is except for calibrating throttle range when you use for first time

turn transmitter on hold full throttle plug in esc hear beaps let go of trigger then it does some beeps again then its set.

it will work without changing settings out of the box but dont ask me what it comes set on

hope that helps

sundogz is right about transmitter setting the esc being a pain but its not too bad, when you have program card its just so much quicker and easier worth the extra 5 or 7 dollars whatever it is

Turnigy Speed Controller Programming Card
Is this the one I need?

This Turnigy Programming card is compatible with the following TURNIGY esc;
Marine
K-Force
EZ-RUN v1 & v2

Notes:
The programming card will not work with similar ESC found in other stores.
Please download zip file for different face plates, outlining the settings for the different ESC.

...that charger that you linked to is going to be very very slow to charge the batteries...
...i would look at the accucell charger with a 5A power supply...
Hey Jason,

I got the charger in the post today, bloody awesome piece of equipment I reckon, cheers for the heads up
(BTW, for fun to test it, charged the standard 700mah battery, took [email protected], the battery is NOT 700mah as stated in the ad :P I'm not surpriced though hahaha)

Cheers
Martin

no probs.

it's a great charger for the money.
i used one for about a year until i recently took the plunge and bought a nice new Hyperion EOS 0720i Super Duo 3 charger
and a 24V 41 Amp power supply. i can now charge my lipo's at up to 20A per chanel. (the charger is twin chanel)

so i can now charge the batteries almost as fast as i can flatten them !
the nano tech's i use in the boat can handle up to 8C charge rate. i usually only hit them with 5C.
so i can fully charge the 2200 2s in roughly 4 minutes, and charge two at once.

i figure im now pretty much future proof as far as chargers go.
probably never need to buy another one.

Jason.

Thanks for the reply fish. Tried ordering it lastnight and HK says it is backordered. Guess I will try using my transmitter if my installation happens before they get more in.

Does anyone know of a powerful multi port charger? Lipos now can be charged at 8c so a medium size 3000mah can be charged at over 20amps.

I love these boats. I've got a few. I have two running right now. One with a 1/16 vxl system and one with a hobbyking 3900kv inrunner and a turnigy 60 amp marine esc. Both are great, but the hobby king has much better throttle control. i run them both on 2 cell 1700mah. I've tried 3 cell in both and no top speed difference just more torque off the line with a lot of cavitation and water through the sleeve. On 2 cell with these setups i get no water in the hull and plenty of power to get out of the rapids with no cavitation. They have the brass sleeve mod and i drilled a hole on the top of the housing through one side of the brass sleeve for a grease port so i don't have to take it apart to grease the shaft. I fill it with a grub screw. I'll put a pic up so you all can see. Also, stainless steal mesh from a sink strainer works great for a "grill".

golden dunno about 4 port but HK has a 2 port 200w 10 amp each port called mega 200w i have one and have been very happy with it but would be better if 20amp each port for faster charging

cole i have 3900kv turnigy in 1 of my boats and its definatley faster on 3s what size 3s batts did you use maybe not big enough to give full power to motor im using 3000mah 40-50c yes it gets more cavitation but just needs a bit more finesse on trigger. also i have found getting the impeller as far back as possible helps too. our other boat has ads400l 3700kv and also is noticably faster on 3s.

later guys happy boating

I see hyperion's 200w per channel (two of).

I am getting in to fast electric flight and with 3cell 3000mah battery at 8c I need more like 250 per channel!

Also these kinds of charge rates will only get higher and more affordable so I need to future proof myself....

Any more ideas?!

Thanks

The Hyperion EOS 0720i SD3 that I have just bought can charge at up to 500w (20A) per Chanel.
Obviously it needs an appropriate power supply to be able to do that rate though.

Im still learning how to use it fully.
it has 20 memories per channel too. And it can sync charge up to 14S battery packs.

It wasn't cheap, but I'm happy with it.

Jason.

there is a little man made lake not far from my place (about 10 minutes drive) that i run it at.
im not exactly sure what it's called though. it's just off Henry Lawson drive at lansdowne, near the public RC car track.

see the attached pic. the 1 arrow shows the lake, and the 2 shpows the RC car track.
you can easily drive past the little lake and never see it (i did for years) i never knew it was there until a friend told me about it.

i also have plans to run it at parramatta park in the river.

Jason.

do you guys run on flat or running water, so much more fun in running water, like the difference between trying to surf on a flat lake or on waves at the beach. if you have a cool spot with running water it would be cool to get together and blast our boats, i get up to Sydney fairly often, just a thought watta you guys think.

well, we all knew it, but I did whack a tiny 3S battery into the boat, it fried the servo in two turns on the transmitter!! the motor had heaps more power though... I guess the gear that these boats are shipped with is not only cr@p but varying degrees of cr@p LOL

boats on the stand until I get back from Europe, happy boating guys, catch ya in a month
