Default X-Power Brushless 100a ESC

This would be for a SV-27 with ammo 36-50-2300

Has any body used this ESC that I saw on OSE's web site?

[link]http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=xpo-blb100a[/link]

I like that it has a low voltage cut off and the internal water cooling.

Thanks

Bruce

Hey tortuga, its a good esc for the money. they say its rated to 100 amps but from other users its more like 70, it is a good upgrade from the stock esc. i run it also like you with the ammo 2300 motor and it is a cool running esc. you need to run a receiver pack with it and get the usb programer that OSE sells it really helps if you are using lipos and nimh. I have over 10 runs with the x power and it is great. You also cant go wrong with OSE prouducts. good price, good esc and great with the ammo motors. hope i helped[&:]

I see a lot of guys running this one with good results: http://cgi.ebay.com/100A-Brushless-Motor-Speed-Controller-RC-ESC-Parts_W0QQitemZ270293977067QQcmdZViewItem?hash=ite m270293977067&_trkparms=39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A15|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I have four of these 100A ESC, made them watercooled, they run fine, but need some work, to correct the sloppy soldering of the Fets.

Very impressive work pompebled. takes alot of know how to do what you did its not as easy as people think. soldering anywhere on or near the esc is a hairy operation. great pics of your work

I use one of these esc's running a 8S in 5 of my smaller hulls.
I have used it straight out of the packet as such and have no usb or field programmer.
The only thing I did was to disable the reverse function......not much use in a rigger anyway.
I use it with a Hitec 40FM pistol radio and have had no problems with it.
It gets warm in my hydro but that thing is an amp pig anyway.

The X-power gets my nod of approval.

Thanks to you all for the information, I did not have any hits on friday so I didn't bother looking at this thread over the weekend.

It's mostly a matter of working quick enough, with a big enough soldering iron, in order not to 'bake' parts that aren't designed for overheating.
The 100A ESC's are build quite robustly and will take a certain amount of 'abuse'.

If you work carefully, it's no big deal (it's only hairy on the first one).

Jan.
That is good news for me, as you know I can be very hard on gear. Nearly all of my hulls smell of majic genie smoke !
So far I have had this speedy warm, I guess 40-50 degC.
It has survived so far and if it makes it untill Christmas I will get another one so that there are fewer component changes at the pond.

To give you an idea on how hard I can be on gear.

A senior fire officer once said. "To understand how hard a Firefighter is on gear think of this. Put him in a concrete prison cell with two cannon balls. Half an hour later come back and he will have lost one an broken the other"

The X-power rocks !!.....for now

I just purchased the ESC above with USB programmer. I have a PC but I do NOT have a laptop to take along. How should I program for the cell number if I want to try using all 2, 3 and 4 cells Lipo at the lake?
If I set for 4, it will work for 3 but not 2 cells. But if I set for 3 it will also work with 2 but what will happen if I use 4 cells but set for only 3 cells?

Simon.O. said he used it straight out of the packet with 8S. The default setting is for only 2S, so I guess I can set it to 2 cell and can use it up to 5S??

Thanks,
Tanasit

Simon is 8s a typo? I would not suggest 8s. I don't think it will last for long.

I ran across this Feigao performance chart..........I refer to it often, you can use it i case you are considering a better motor also. You could run the 10L with a max amp draw of 61 and a kv of 2602. That would give you speed AND torque with the 60mm can. I use the 60mm motors in several of my boats.

Just to clarify a bit on that chart. Its amps at max efficiency. So if you gear or prop a boat to run at those amps, it will have its max efficiency. But you can easily draw twice as many amps by over propping.
