Hi I am new here, but not new to rc boating. I am looking to build around a 30-33' brushless catamaran. I am looking for a reasonably priced hull. Are the 32' hulls on ebay any good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290257119432 if not, any hulls anybody can suggest. i am not looking to spend 500$ on a hull, I just want a decent hull. also, is the dual motor setup too much for a hull this size? should i stick with the single motor hull? thanks

Hi dtbmx522. I have had a twin brushless cat and I would not have another one. The only reason being the twin motor and ESC cost, they are quick but I don't think worth the extra $. I have just bought a F1 tunnel to build up with a brushless outboard and my current project is converting a twin motor deep V to a single motor, my 2 cents worth

That hull come up alot. I think it looks pretty good. Nice look. Looks to be a capable design. I've never seen a full build thread for one though to know if there are any short commings. As mentioned in a 32 you can manage pretty well with a single motor. You are adding lots of $ and lots of weight to put two motors in, and an XL motor and 4-6S lipo should move that boat very well. Read Ryans sticky about setup at the top of the electric page. You are on track as the first step is choosing a hull. I'm building a scracth balsa cat that's 29" long and it getting a an 8XL and 4S. I'm hoping for clost to 50mph with it.

Hi Guy's
Although i admit there is better quality hulls available such as the " Mean Mchine " , which a mate of mine owns on the Gold Coast & states is the best Cat he has owned thus far . The Apparition type hull ( in all its guises ) is also a nice unit to own , the one that i own is powered by 2x 4s ( 2x 4000mah ) Lipo Batts. & a 9xl BL motor that delivers a visual speed of about 75kmh & a run time of between 15-20 minutes . As i have driven this hull in different weather conditions at those speeds i have to say that i am more than pleased with the speed my current set up delivers & the way in which it handles diverse water . After a long run when i take the cowel off , i find that the Electrics are not overly hot ( watercooled ) . One of the drawbacks i found with this hull & believe it may be the case with other similar craft is the glasswork is not as thick in places that do require it , which i have corrected . So considering this hulls positives & negatives i would say " Give it go " - i am happy with where my effort is heading !!

This hull is identicle to the EKOS hull except for the fancy stuff on top.
The paint work is nice too I heard.
It can handle twins. Nice setup is a pair of UL-1 motors, x442 L&R props and some Turnigy 180 esc's Fairly cheap and robust.
Actually you could easily use a SupepSimple 90/100 amp esc $27, and waterproof it and it will handle those motors fine.

I race elctric boats and i got an empty EKOS hull to drop my own dual drive gear into for a fun running boat, speed runs...
Got a great deal on the hull so, why not?

I bought a RTR one as seen above and the unknown ESC claimed 125A stopped working in a few days! The motor which is 3600KV has a nice custom sealed water jacket with matching color. The setup can NOT handle 4S because of the high KV motor. I scuffed the bottom gel coat with 400 wet sandpaper.

I then bought an ETTI 150 from OSE and the new motor which is Feigao 540XL 8 turns. With the new setup my radar gun clock 48 mph with 4S 5000 mAh 30C pack.
I plan to go up to 6S, but Steve at OSE suggested the 12 turn motor with the same ETTI 150.
I also added the capacitor bang as seen in the pictures and I took a cooling plate off the broken ESC and attached it to the new ETTI 150 for dual cooling system.
Also note that the second picture shows that I added the water seal foam around the hatch openning and since it is tight fit, I do NOT need the hatch tape any more.

Note that, if one wants to buy this hull for dual motors, it will be a tight fit.
The hull is of a very high quality, plenty of room for 4 or more battery packs. It is quite stable and can handle high speed turn well.

Im currently building a 32'' hull, which you take in to consideration considering its fourth the cost of the hulls your looking at. Mine will be running on two 100aesc two feigao 9 or 12xls and 6s a piece. Ill be possible running over 60
