Default 1/8 miss bud electric build

just picked up my 1/8 soon to be miss bud hydro from a fellow rcu`er . this build is going to be a fast electric . there is no hardware just the hull . i would like some input on the factory proboat hardware , will this be good enough ? i do not want it if i will eventually have to change it . thanks for any input .

The first thing you have to do is decide if you are going to race the boat as a 1/8 hydro? If this is the case then that hardware can't be used because everything up to the drive dog must be mounted under the hull ! Best thing to do is go to NAMBA web site and down load the rules for 1/8 scale electric and decide from there.

The Proboat hardware is great stuff. If you have any questions, I have one here. Just ask. E-mail or PM is best because I am so infrequent here.

I modded a 1/8th Llumar (same hull) to electric and the stock hardware is holding up fine.

Currently running a big Plettenburg but it probably should have a 3060 LMT or one of the larger Neu's in it. It is a heavy boat and a bit ass heavy given the placement of the qty 4 5S LiPos.
Have tried a Neu 1527 1.5Y, a LMT 2280 12T and 13T but it just seems to need more. I'll mess around this year with the Plett and see what happens.

They do, go to Horizon Hobbies web page and do a search for any of the 1/8th Hydros. They sell rudders , struts etc. Basically you can find all of the piece parts you will need there.

Consider your LiPo placement, Thoses are some big motors, where do you plan on placing your LiPos? Remember you are looking at probably qty 4, 5S packs and you will need the appropriate real estate to place them. I run 2 in the cockpit and 2 on top of the radio box, but it is too tail heavy. I'm thinking about possibly making hatches in the front sponsons to properly align the center of gravity.

that was going to be my next question , the amount of packs and # of cells . for that same reason , weight distribution / pack placement . is the neu 2215 1.5y a good choice or should i hold out for the 2230 ?

I'm not going to comment on the motor as I'm still unsure as to what my final choice will be. (It will be a bigger one though)

Either motor you choose will need to run on 10S2P.

fair enough . i will choose the big one , the 2230 1.5y , so if i`m reading this right 10s 2p means 10 cell x 2 packs ?

10S2P Equals;

Qty4, 5S packs. Qty 2 packs each connected in series=around 38V, and then the other qty 2 packs each connected in series=around 38V

Those 2 sets of packs are now connected in parallel so you double the whole capacity of the packs.

Eg; Qty 4 5S, 5000mah packs would be 38V and 10,000 Mah connected in a 10S2P configuration.

You could in theory do qty 2 10S packs and connect them in parallel as well.

Thrust bearings go up on the motor, not at the strut.
