Default which neumotor for my shockwave

moin guys,

I want to put a neumotor in my boat but I have no clue which one.
What I´m sure about is that I need incredible speed - approx. 100 km/h.
The boat is a MHZ shockwave - here a link: http://206.206.85.209/xtdoc/Details....p;store=mhzusa
I believe it´s a 25" Fountain or something.
First I thougt a 1512 with 4800 K/V would be nice - now I´ve seen steve neu´s recommendation which says the 1515 with 4100 or 4800 K/V fits best.
What´s your opinion on this? I don´t want a motor that gets heat issues after the firstst run!!! plus I don´t want a boat that is heavy as shXX.
One more: Does anybody know the diamater of a 15xx rotor??

best regards,

Carloss

BTW: do these motors have problems with the bearings?<br type="_moz" />

neu motors has a great website for stuff like this. i dont know the diameter, but it will be on there. maybe you got the recommendation for that size motor from their website, but if not definitely check it out. i found it very helpful.

15 series motors are 39mm in diameter and have a bolt circle of 25mm.

Judging from you motor selection you plan to run 2s LiPo power?
Will this hull be run in Oval or SAW mode?

A hull that small at speeds in excess of 45mph will be very hard to keep on the water. Dead calm flat water will nearly be a must.
You won't have heat issues if the proper motor is selected but first answer the Q's above.
Neu motors have never had bearing issues as long as I've owned them.

I'd be curious how your project goes. It seems like a 24 inch ABS plastic hull might have trouble coping with that speed/power.

Let us know! I'm working on a shockwave upgrade now myself. I'll post in a couple weeks when it's running. I opted for a 540 sized motor, 13 turns, 2724kV, max draw 50A for $50. Generic Seaking 120A ESC.

thanks for all your answers.
here a few details:
the hull is made from laminated glass fibre. i streghtened the hull with one extra layer on the floor and 3 extra layers in the back (where the rudder is attached - don“t know the english word).
then i also added a 1mm carbon fibre plate in the back. so i should not get any issues with the hull stability.
the drive has a floated bearing for high rpm and salt water resistance and it is pretty long for better high speed handling.
the motor is a 1920/10 lehner. i put it in the back of the boat. the battery is in the front. i use a 4s LiFePo. i hope you know that stuff. it“s pretty similar to a 3s lipo.
the weight is 1,2 kg and the calculated speed with this setup approx. 75 km/h.

well, i believe thats it so far. as soon as i have a video i“ll upload it to youtube and let you guys know.

thanks again,

carloss

I think you've reached the speed limit you can go with that hull, looks good.

I don“like words like "speed limit" =)
There is room for another 1 kg in that hull. So I“m thinking about a bigger motor and bigger batteries.
That should help making this thing go faster.

Currently it runs with approx. 35k rpm and a 36 diameter prop. Mr. lehner drove this thing with 50k rpm and over 90 kph!

...this boat will go faster - I hope =)
