hi i started assembling the boat and i want to do several changes
the boat is twin motor and there is no contra rotating props
two of them spinning in the same direction
i am interested to fix that issue
now the prop is 2 blade unknown maker from cooper with 435 stamp on it any ideas ?
how to choose 3 bladed prop fore the stock setup and if there is any need fore me as a beginner to do that ?
i have to change one of the flex shafts

about the battery's i see that using 4s on high kv motors now what is high kv is 2800 is high
can i use 4s but not squeeze all the juce from the battery's run on half throttle ?

2800kv is very high to run 4s packs
you will have unloaded rpms of 41,000 +
those high rpm motors are more suited for 3s packs, to much rpms and things get hot very quickly and burn up

Hi Verado i ordered those battery's they are half the price from the max amp packs
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...0306&aff=27556
the RTR Boat is coming with two bladed cooper beryllium props well i have no expirianse with RTR boats but by the clips on you tube its seams to be wery fast i don't know the maker of those props there is a stamp on it with #435 i don't know what is the size of it

i orderd the baterys after the boat so i am still waiting
i will post a video with GPS measurements when i will get them

will be cool to know what upgrades i can do to my boat to go faster

Thanks for the info! you dont think those batteries will blow up the motors? Also, how is the quality of the hull and everything?

hey the link that you gave is to the store they have a lot of choices

well its depends what you call a good quality the hull is made of fiber glass with polyester resin
from my examination of the hull i can say that the hull is made with vacuum process but the hatch is wet laid without vacuum process
so i cant call it a good quality so the overall look of the exterior is a grate finish off couple of stickers glued together with glossy finish
the fiberglass and polyester are extremely have fore those applications

i intend to copy the hull fore upgrades carbon fiber & epoxy resin hull i intend to loose the half of the weight or more
abut the prop and more powerful battery's i cant help you from luck of experience of electrical component computability sorry

hear there are lot of experience builders just wight until you will be answered good luck

I agree those batteries should work great!
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...0306&aff=27556
and as for props some 36mm on 3s will work and if temps are good you may be able to use 38mm props

HI i am owner of one of those and i am running it in the stock version
with 2X3s 5000ma/h 40c and i have a big problem with the connectors they are heating up to 125 Celsius
i have a good quality soldering wire melting point of110c but its not good
it is the connectors of the ESC and the motor
the motor temps are in the range of a safe 45c and the ESC is good all so the wires are in the range of 60c

what could be the reason for the heating and what connectors should i use without soldering???

You should change out your connectors. They are heating up because they are not making a good connection.

High amps through poor connection = resistance = fast heat build up

You could simply remove the connectors and solder the wires directly, or try 5.5mm bullets from HK
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=2087 or
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9763 the first set are more money, I ordered those and the all fit very nice, good machining.

TO EVERYONE ASKING ABOUT BATTERIES. . .
as long as your battery is not to high a voltage (1,2,3s), fits inside the hull, it should be fine. As for the C rating, I wouldn't go any less then 25C. In a pack of 5000mAh 25C is enough, if you put in a 30C, 40C, 90C it won't change anything in the "frying" department. The total power (amps) drawn in ANY boat is determined by the motors. Things fry when you choke that max draw of the motors.
Eg.
Twin 550 motors will draw a maximum of 150 amps*. (*fictitious number used for example) so there you go, everything else should at the minimum supply 150 amps.
So, ESC, a Turnigy 120 amp will get cooked after a few runs. So go to the 180 amp version and you will be ok.
As for the battery. Though in a 1500mAh 20C, that will only safly give 30 amps. the batterie will over heat and die, no to mention it will provide 10 second run times. Now a 5000mAh 20C will provide 100 amps, close but not quite there. So run 2 in parallel, you get 40C so 200 amps. or run a 40C 5000mAh pack.

so if i run on twin 2881kv motor and 70a ESC 2X 3s 5000ma 40c its in the safe range??? i had 3 runs of 10 minutes each the battery was OK 30degry cel'
each ESC gets a battery

Those batteries will safely put out 200 amps each, so as long as your motors don't draw more the 200 amps continuos they will be fine. (I can pretty much guarantee the motors pull far less)

If your getting 10min of runtime a 5000mah 20c will work just fine..
that long of a run is saying you are not pulling a massive amount of amps and 100amps cont is more than enough

I use 5.5mm connectors on everything I own...
They are able to flow much more current.

Hi tornad0
I ordered one as well.. How’s your holding up? I’ve not run my yet as it was slightly damaged during shipment and I’m waiting for the King to make it right.

Have you had any problems with the screws or the glue holding the engine mounts? I was thinking of reinforcing the glue points before running the boat.

I was also thinking about making one of the drives a counter rotating prop. How does the boat handle stock i.e., does it drift or pull?

Last, I have read a few threads on this boat and looked at a few videos. Seems most people want to run a 3S 5000 mah (I also ordered the same). Now my thought is two 2S packs in series (5000) giving me around 14.4 volts but with a lot less weight than two 4S packs parallel. What configuration have you been running?

Regards,
Moppie

congratulation

first of all ther are no grease on the shaft out of the box
the greasing process painstaking you have to remove the motors or the stingers aether way it will take you at least an hour to do that
last time i removed the stingers and notes that they are not equal
you should replace all the setscrews they are not holding up

the stingers originally hold by silicone instead of lock tight
when you tighten the screws on the rudder do not force it i have nasty crack on the hull

had no problem from the wood parts battery ,servo, receiver holders the glue is OK there
the motor mount is all so holding good fore now

i can not tell any different between my boat and the king of shaves that is counter rotating shafts
there is no bad effect on the boat

i have the turnigi x-2 3s 5000ma 40c they run ok the temperaturs are in the safe zone
and i all so run on 4s 3600ma 25c they are getting a bit hot after several runs i am keeping an eye on them every time i run with 4s
i didn't tried to run on 2s parallel fore the twin motor you will be needing 4 battery to connect 4s 2p

happy floating

has anyone done a motor swap in this boat yet?

Was interested in purchasing one, and out fitting with some hydra esc and possibly 2 castle motors?

Which ones would fit and what would you recommend?
