Default would this work ok?

Hi all.

i have bought a brushless motor for my boat.

this is the description:
Brushless Watercooled Motor 3674 750W 2770KV For 8.4 to 12 volts. 2S to 4S lipo or 7 to 16 Nicad or NIMH packs. Mounting hole spacing of 19mm or 25mm. Diameter 46mm, length 74mm. shaft diameter 5mm. Max Amps 85.
Replacement for 700 size motors but MUCH more powerful. Use with 70 to 90 Amp speed controller.

i'm currently using 8.4V NiMh packs, but i need to get new packs. i'm also going to change the ESC because the one i've got and tried is not for a boat and i don't think it is working properly.

so my Question is?

should i use 9.6V or 12V NiMh packs? (heard that Lipo's don't like water and water gets in my boat)

And woul this sped controller work ok?
Description:
HW Brushless watercooled 90Amp Speed control (ESC) with 180 Amp burst. complete with full instructions Battery (cell): 2-6S Lipo 6-18 Cells NiMH. Size 94x33x18, Weight: 81g

How much water gets in your boat? Can you prevent it? If so get it seald up and go Lipo. I didn't do any formal calculations but that's going to be a pretty high amp setup. Those nimh's don't like that kind of drain rate.
