Also,How would 6s do on the Turnigy 4074 1400kv..?
The Turnigy xk has a 4074,but only 1400kv,how would that do on 6s?
theres also a 1450 kv in the turnigy xk range.
I will check that out crapshooters,I want to reach high 50's to 60 on smooth water using 6s and not have the motor getting too hot: )
i would say with the lower kv motor such as the 1450 you would be able to also swing a bigger prop without the engine reving or straining too hard.
like r/c aircraft , they use lower kv motors to swing large props for various models . the idea is cool esc / cool motor and good speed. so don,t forget to work on different props aswell as you might end up with a good electric set up but the main propulsion is lacking due to the wrong prop used. i am going through the same process with my electric rigger . |
Ok thanks,I will test props with new motor, hope to order one this weekend!
also do you have an esc program card ? if so find the correct timing for the motor .
yes I have program card, but still trying to figure out what timing to choose...?
timing does depend on how many poles the motor has plus maybe Y or D wind makes a difference, start with a low or standard timing going by what i have read. a guy on you-tube was running a 31 inch mono with a turnigy xk 4080 - 1450 kv / 180 esc and 6 s lipo, looked like it was in the good 60 mph range.
Ok thanks,I will be checking that out!!!.sounds good: )
The Turnigy 4074 1400 kv should work good on 6s with a m545 or m645, maybe low 50's. But if you decided to run 4s with it, I doubt it would be faster than the aquacraft if both motors are run on 4s. I do think high 50's to 60 would be more realistic on 6s with the leopard 4074 1650kv. Plus the d wind motors have a edge over the y wind motors, they will produce more torque and hold the rpm higher under load.
Patrick, what would be a good motor timing for my turnigy xk 3674 - 2200 kv 4 pole ?
Thanks Patrick 125,I didn't see the Leopard 4074 1650kv,will look for that one,and get the m545 or 645 props, been saving ones on eBay watch list!
still looking for the leopard 4074 1650kv on eBay,they only have the leopard 3674 in 1650kv,think I saw the 4074 1650kv online, will check google search: )

Thanks Patrick 125,saved link, great info on off: )

With improved connection I have ran my aquacraft 1800 on 6s with the stock grim racer prop and the motor and wire temperature felt the same as when I began the run.
Ok thanks!..I will check the solder connectors and probably solder esc to motor,I put 5.5 bullet connectors on esc to battery, should I put 5.5 bullets on esc to motor or just solder them together?
my extra water pickup is working great, now need to get some water line!
I'm going to plug the hobbywing program card into esc and push reset on timing to see if it goes to default setting and see what number that is
with my new motor and esc i changed all wire connectors from the stock ones to good quality gold plated 6mm.made sure all solder joints were done well.
That's was good to do crapshooter,..I'm going to do the same since I'm getting the Leopard 4074 1650kv from Ose,and it comes with 6mm bullet connectors on motor and 3 extra to put on esc: )
I ran my Revolt and tested it with the timing on esc with program card to number 5(15.00) which is the default setting,I had it on number 4(11.25) but it got hotter, haven't check top speed difference,11.25 was getting 51 1/2 mph,I think your right on going lower, have searched a lot and see I should go lower,so will be trying out the low settings tomorrow, next I will make the connection better from esc to motor,I have 5.5 bullets I could put on,but when I get the Leopard 4074 1650kv it will have 6.0mm bullets on it and 3 extra for esc, hopefully I can order it next Saturday: )...what's the best turn fin and ride tabs you and everyone like best ? : ))
