Hi,
In principle yes, as a 700 on 12 cells draws an average of 25 Ah on a 8 minute run. Getting out of the hole requires a much higher current (up to twice as much, depending on the prop) and that's where you might run into trouble, when the (thermal) overload protection kicks in.(see specs) Having said that, I've run a 12 cell setup with a 700 motor, 45mm K-series Graupner prop for years on a Jeti 350 ESC(35 Ah continuous), in competition without any problems, but the occasional thermal shutdown when I had to get on the plane again after a flip. I solved that issue by watercooling the ESC with a flat square piece of brass tubing, pushed under the shrinktube, over the heatsink where the fets are located. Never had any problems. Regards, Jan. |
RE: esc question
so it would work if i watercooled it? coause thats what im planning to do

RE: esc question
whats Ah mean, amps?
|
RE: esc question
ampere hours. 25Ah means it can provide 25amps for an hour (usually applies to batteries). im not sure why he said Ah, maybe it was just a typo?
|
RE: esc question
Yes it should work fine, it looks to be exactly like the Castle creations ESC that I have. I have heard the 700 motors only draw 25-35amps for average running.

RE: esc question
ORIGINAL: kevinb456 ampere hours. 25Ah means it can provide 25amps for an hour (usually applies to batteries). im not sure why he said Ah, maybe it was just a typo? No it's not a typo, if the batteries would provide unlimited juice, the motor would draw an average of 25 Amp per hour. Regards, Jan. |
RE: esc question
but why do you say "per hour"
Ah is a measure of capacity - energy stored. motors are rated using amps which is a measure or required power. you said 25 amps per hour as if 1/5 of an hour would require 5 amps, and 2 hours would require 50 amps. the motor would require 25 amps no matter how many hours you run it for. maybe its just the words you used, if english isnt your first language then probably just a mis-understanding. |
RE: esc question
Hi Kevin,
You're right, and right again; English is not my native language, and I did mess up on my terminology, sorry. Regards, Jan. |
