RE: I feel like crying
Thanks for the prop info, I'll have to try to find one to try out. Do you know what it is made of?
There is no moving the motor to gain clearance- the boat is very slim and the motor hits the hatch when you put it on as it is. No room for cooling. I was thinking of making a "bubble" on the hatch and repainting that too to allow more room. We'll see what happens. Joe |
RE: I feel like crying
cool !
have you thought about putting the motor far back like rite under the cockpit ? cuc there os mor room there and then angle the motor so it has less stress on the flex shaft and as for the prop i think they some in plastic and brass i would sugest trying the plastic on first because it wont coat you a lot of maney to get it to run and also if it doesnt work then your not out that much money but remebr with the same prop , one plastic and one brass there will still be a speed diffence |
RE: I feel like crying
I'll have to look and see if there is any room anywhere else under the hatch. Right now, it is under where the "windshields" are- I don't think there is any more room anywhere else. As for mounting it on an angle- that will certainly never happen with the space I have for it. That isn't putting much stress on the shaft- there is an S bend in the tube anyway, so it isn't making a difference if I end the S angled up or straight.

RE: I feel like crying
rite on !
good luck with what you do its a shame they couldnt have built the boats deck more higher they should now. but it looks realy good any thing else i can help you with ? |
RE: I feel like crying
Yeah, I think that may be the reason they don't list this boat on their site (fine design)? They have the Drifter S which has a bubble cockpit area- much more room there. Who knows. Thanks for all your help- I'll let you know if I have any other questions. I'll also try to get a vid of it once it is up and running for you :).

RE: I feel like crying
Actually- there is one thing- what are you using to determine speed and such? Is it like Motorcalc?
Joe |
RE: I feel like crying
its fast electric calculator
you plug in the motor the connectors the wire the esc , the battery's and the hull then it will determine 3 props for you the max speed , the max efficiency , and balanced between the max speed an effiency it will tell you the speed the effeiency, the rpm limit , the runtime power input and power out put , the amps you are pulling and such ! |
RE: I feel like crying
its quite useful , i plugged in my traxxas blast ( mod to extreme ) and it said i wwas getting 34.4 mph with the 1732 prop and i gps'd the boat and i got 33.8 mph
so i will do it for my scat cat that is how I'm finding the best setup for it so far I'm going with a feigao 7T B-less with a baracudaesc on 18 gp3300mah packs , with the first prop it was the 1732 prop and it would hit 53.7 mph , so when i get the boat i am going to run it and gps it to see if it is close , and i think it will be |
RE: I feel like crying
Ahhh. See it looks brand new! Good work!![8D]

RE: I feel like crying
Thanks- if there is one thing I am pretty decent at- it is paint and body work, but I just didn't want to paint my pretty yellow gelcoated new boat haha.. Glad it came out as good as it did!
Joe eyekandy- I dl'ed that program, but can't figure out how to manually enter motor specs, it just gives you a list and that's it? Joe |
RE: I feel like crying
ya cuz thats it ! lol
you cant becasue if you ro into the read me file *** says the motor specs and it baes it off of that but if it doesnt have the motor toy want you can find the kv on it and if it is 100kv off then take that off the top speed and relize that it is slower p.s feigao and nemsis are exact copys of hacker b50 serise |
RE: I feel like crying
Sorry you wrecked your boat but looks like you got her back up to snuff. No that isnt a Drifter.I think its a BK but it looks like the same bottomas the drifter anyways.I dont think a 1732 prop is the way to go on that boat.If you are going up to the next size up motor I would recomend an 8XL and an X642 prop.Leave the motor in its original position and just move cells forward as needed to keep her on the water.Water cooling is always best.It just helps keep your motor healthy.Belive me I know what I am talking about.I use to own the Q offshore record witha a two way pass of over 70mph on a similar hull. These cats like the mass centered not spread out to give good performance.Ill check back if you have any other questions.Dennis Whitt

RE: I feel like crying
Thanks Dennis, yeah- I know you know what you are talking about :). I just can't physically fit a cooling jacket/coil around the motor in this hull :(. Do you think I am overpropped with this motor and the x438? Chris is the one who put the "package" together for me, but I think the prop may be a touch too big because of how hot things get with this setup.
Also- as for CG- where would you recommend I put it? I had it a little more than 1/3 from back and I think that is part of what led to it getting so hot (hull was running very "wet"- has to put a lot more load on things??), so I moved it back to just 1/4 from back and it made a noticeable difference in performance, but I crashed before getting a full run.. |
