I think it looks pretty nice. Don't know what it is, I just like it.

Hi all, guess what...., i just burn my Hex esc with 442 prop is is weird, maybe i didnt do water cooling right, but if anyone know i can get it back with the warranty from Unitedhobbies or somethings?? anyway it was really fast but i couldnt enjoy that long, too bad.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

a 442 ? odd
I have a X445 and aX642 running a 9XL on a 80 amp barracuda esc with no water cooling.
it might be that esc.

SouthJerseyFe 04-03-2007 05:29 PM

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

Ive been running that esc in the Jack on 14 and 16 cells. Ive run a 40,42 and 45mm prop so far. I am water and fan cooled. I've never seen a temp over 85.

CadillacDTS2001 04-03-2007 05:46 PM

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

yeah lol you have your cooled to the 9's putting it in ice wouldn't even be as cold.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

where are your batteries and loosen hex flex and spin the prop with you finger does it spin easily?? how much space you have between the drive dog and strut??1/32nd min. what did you grease the shaft with??
is the prop sharpened and balanced??

CadillacDTS2001 04-03-2007 07:54 PM

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

1/32nd! go for 1/8th. that is not enough room for a flex shaft to tighten!. your drive dog should not be in contact with the end of your strut

MatrixTech 04-03-2007 08:26 PM

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

Sorry I disagree but everyone has their own preference. that 1/8th usually pumped water for me.for me max of like 3/32nd for my tastes.

Hi, i can turn the shaft as ... fine, well.... i dunno but i dont think its suppost to be fail that fast...... just not even 2 mins running, that was my 1st prop test. I reported and will send it back 2morow with decription: overheated with 19.2V and Feigao 9XL, never work back again. :)... daymmmm.... it was so fun with my 1st run, tried to recording a video clip for your guys too but.....well, i will post it again later then.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

My ?? is whats the max voltage on speedo or max cells and max amps??
did you grease the shaft and put space in the between the shaft and strut??
your cg should be 1 inch behind turn fin/sponsons.
pull the shaft out of the boat and set the boat on the table/counter and see if its level front to rear thats where you need to start.
and only run the boat for 30 sec to 1 min before checcking temps.
if you want the cg more forward then pull the motor and slide the batteries in the nose or side ways on each side of motor.
I went to radioshack and got the square tie mounts and bent the wires back on top of the motor and mounted speedo on top of motor to make room for cells in nose.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

does the shaft spin freely like one rotation when you spin it with the prop on it??

I think it looks great, just an opionion I would black out the cockpit. Just looks more reaistick that way. Nice boat looking forward to watching the first discharge!

CadillacDTS2001 04-04-2007 07:30 AM

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

most of this stuff is just common sense. why run a boat when the shaft is hard to spin.
because these esc's are kinda on the cheap side you may have just got a lemon. simple as that.
i would see about a warrenty or a return policy. and if you can get your money back and go for a hacker, MGM, castle creations or BK

MatrixTech 04-04-2007 10:36 AM

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

You say common sense but I say info that not many people share with newbies.:D

im not newbie with boat, just new with brushless setup, yes i did grease the drive shaft and its spin freely with my hand, i was taking time measured everythings really good (measuring and decorating are my skill, im really good at that :)). i dont think i can get my money back, but i thinking about selling it on ebay later and get something beter. Anyone know what exactly setup for 12cells and i can get max speed and good handling?? including: which hull, motor, esc, prop size?? please tell me.... im kinda.... tired[:o]

I thought exactly the same thing about the cockpit. The boat looks great but I think painting a window on would look superb.

The esc; very unfortunate and here I'm planning on buying that esc, wish you knew why it happened exactly. If it was an amperage problem, I guess that woudnt be an issue with my boat. Got a question, maybe I missed it in the thread, did you run the boat, while the shaft was still bound up, wondering if you fried the esc then and it didnt fail till later on. Also was the esc getting hot after a run?

Still, very nice looking boat, I wouldnt give up on her yet.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

p.s. I was looking at your esc cooling, wouldnt cooling be greatly improved by wrapping the esc with a plate of aluminum, like a strap. I would think it would give it greater heat transfer. I dont mean a water jacket, but just a strap that connect on either end to your existing cooling plate. Reason I was thinking this, is since the esc is stacked, I would think only the bottom circuit board is really getting the full benefit of the water cooling.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

i will black out the windows later, im using the original T-Plus window sticker thats why, honestly i didnt even use any type of cooling system for it, not even the one in picture before, reason is no room in this pretty boat, i took it off today and sent it back to unitedhobbies, i can tell its was overheated and dispatch the sordering (all of 3 wires for motor was off pretty clean by heat and the wrap was broking too, but no esc damage) i pretty sure if i sordering it back its will work fine, just no reason to do that when i still have warranty for it, anyway what kind of sorder job is that.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

Well, I guess then when/if I buy one I'll check all the connections before running it.

CadillacDTS2001 04-05-2007 07:10 AM

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

don't use cooling on one of my boats and i don't have a problem at all
12-16 cells on a 9XL with a 80 amp esc
it may like i said before that controler

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project

that stinks, maybe even longer before my boat goes brushless, I dont like buying questionable products. If I'm going to buy something, it better break from something I did. At least that's the way I like to keep it.

I have thought about dry ice....LOL.

I have been looking @ this onboard self contained system that uses synthetic coolant and a set of fan cooled radiators. It weighs 11 grams with one radiator runs on 5v. 280+$

Water is the best medium for cooling. Not only does it transfer heat effectively, it also is very easy to install.
