DPI T-plus brushless project
1 Attachment(s)
im start doing my project with DPI T-plus brushless power by 9XL Feigao, 120 Hextronik and 16cells IB3600, i have some question about sealing the boat and fiberglass the bottom hull, need advices, please help
1st ..so superglue is the best for seal the abs hull right? 2nd. how can i fiber glass the bottom piece, where i can find fiberglass cloth and stuff?? what kind of fiberglass?? anyone had experient about this boat please tell me. anyway, here some pics to share. |
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
i helped build one of these boats a while ago.
if you want to do a fiber glass bottom then fiber glass it first, then join them. we used JB weld to put it together we lined it with JB weld and then set it there till it dried. then sand like mad and put some carbon fiber down to make it strong. also you hull will be very crazy on 16 cells. ours was mad fast on 12. |
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
thanks Taylor Shaw, so you mean this hull is pretty bad handling right? its pretty big to me i guess, around 30 inches and 14inches wide, do you think fiberglass the bottom will help? also can you tell me axactly how to fiberglass it, sorry this is my 1st time.

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
well no its a great handleing hull. its a beautiful hull. but ever hull has its power limits. Just like you can't power a 30 inch mono with 70 cells.
as for the fiberglassing i would definitely do it. to fiber glass is quite eazy. lay over your cloth in all the parts you want and then drop some epoxy over it and push it all over to cover in entire of the cloth and then take out the extra resin. |
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
Can a setup like that be cooled with that little coil? Only asking since I was planning on making a water jacket for my feigao, but I've already got a coil, that would be easier. Looks like a nice project
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
i think its gonna be ok, i streight it out a lil bit to make it wider cus the motor kindda too long for it, or you can buy 2 of them
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
Just making sure, is that the traxxas coil? looks like mine. I think I'm going to try making a jacket, if I get frustrated, I'll use the coil.
That boat should really move with that setup. |
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
you will have to tell me what that speed control is like as i may be getting one, if i get my money back on my old esc.
nice set up, looks like it will fly. Thanks |
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
i dont get what you try to tell me Alextitchmarsh, but anyway its a Hextronik 120 esc, i got it from Unitedhobbies for about $60 shipped.
Quicksilver, its a Cen coil, i got it from offshore, they all the same i guess, just make sure your Traxxas fit 540 can, i pretty sure water jacket is beter but its too pricey for my right now (i spent more than $500 on this project... already:)), and coil is not bad anway. |
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
sorry, i was just saying let me know how good the speed control is, as i want to get one.

oh ic, sure i will tell you how is it after i run it, i heard alot good things about it that why i get it, but its still not a boat esc (airplane) and i will have 2 use stick controler and build a custom cooler for it, here pic.

I'm also planning on getting that esc, hope it's a good one. I'm going to try making a water jacket out of brass. I wish I had the link to the tutorial someone made. I'll have to look around, doesnt seem too hard to make edit: oh yeah duh, it's on offshore electric website, under tip & info. |
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
Nice project you have there.

I run the Hex 120 ESC. 26" cat on 14cells 12XL 40mm prop 5 minutes WOT temp 78. I water cooled it with the fullers plates...it's also air cooled with a 3 racing micro fan. Great ESC!!

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
that tplus can be modified to run on any number of cells I ran one on 24 cells once.
if you look at the front ride pads you will see a wedge shaped step you need to cut that out and cover the bottoms with ply or??? and put the largest motor you feel safe with.HEHE also you will need to cut the shaft tube out and just run your brass for the flex shaft. Good luck Eric |

Hi Matrixtech, you mean cut some part in bottom of the hull, and cover it back, or you are talking about inside? can you tell me what wrong with it if i just leave it like that, its kinda risky to cut the hull i guess. anyway what kind of motor and prop you was using to run 24 cells? yes i will change to aloy hardwares and flex shaft for sure:D anyway here the pic of bottom hull, please show me where i need to cut out, (you can safe this pic into your pc and edit it by circle wherever you want)

my T-plus after glue, sealing, sanding, motor and strut installed, i i used plywood to bone the hull, its much stronger and lighter than fiberglass.
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
Kev IMO a water jacket would be the best choice in the confined space. Coils are poor when it comes to heat disapation.
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
nice. that looks good. Did you fiber glass the hull or just leave it?
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
is there going to be very much room for the battereis and be able to move them around for the COG ?
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
i didnt fiberglass the hull ( i took it off right after i did it b4 its stick, cus its so heavy) i do plywood around, its much stronger and lighter weight, to fit to 16cells in this boat is tough, finally i put 8 in front and 8 in rear or midle, im really happy with this boat, except....no room to do anythings, anyway, water jacket is on the way;)

i just finished painting and decals job, no more T-Plus.:)

RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
looks 100% better then the T plus
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
I agree. Nice work!
|
RE: DPI T-plus brushless project
thanks alot, the boat is good quality but the decal is kinda cheap, but i still keep T-Plus decal for incase, video clip comming soon, i still waiting for the ruder.:D
