mini v motor

What would be a good motor upgrade for the mini v? Would a mamba 6800 work well?

That discussion has been talked about [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5521619/tm.htm]Here[/link] Page 4 is where the motor is talked about heavily.

:D

No, a mamba is too small for this boat.

Check out this thread. We have already started one and it will answer alot of your questions.

what about staying brushed?

RE: mini v motor

Ahh Good point.
You would have to consider the diameter of the motor since the mount surrounds the can. If you can create your own mount, then you are not limited by diameter restrictions.

We must have been typing at the same time;)

ninitman, why not go over to the other thread so we can keep all this in one place? I would be interested in a brushed motor upgrade also.

As for the electronics, Taylor had this to say...

a great motor with a lot of power is the
280 peak raider. that is one of the best brushed motor with loads of power.
no mods other then to change the motor out

RE: mini v motor

so you can put mini t motors in it? What about a motor from a mini lst?

Will the mamba be underpowered or just not fit the mounts right?

Hi I just got one of these the motor is a 380 it's bigger than the mini T 280 sized motor ... This motor is the size they use in the kyosho mini inferno or the dura trax mini quake.

I,m using the 6800kv in my mini v with the 25 amp speedo it came with there is no lack of power but the can gets as hot as the motor in my brushless mini lst and that truck is all alum. So I think I,ll make a water jacket for the motor and a water cooled block for the esc and see how cool that keeps things.I,ll keep you posted as soon as Iget the chance to build it.

RE: mini v motor

ya 380 400 or 480 is going to work but not a 280 miniT motor it does not even fit in the motor mount of the mini V did someone say the stock miniV ESC is 25amps? that is a good amount of juice I will go shop for a bigger motor tomorrow

I hope your water jacket works out, keep us posted. But I don't think its going to be enough too keep the motor cool if its getting that hot. Here is my comparison. I had that same motor in a smaller boat and it got smokin hot. And that means that no amount of water cooling will keep it as cool as it should be.

RE: mini v motor

well if it burns up the motor at least I can say that I had fun and those motors are rather cheap about 60.00 bucks not bad when you add up 2 gallons of nitro that,s almost 70.00 bucks so if it last 2 weeks at the speed and power it has I,m happy and if it burns up I,ll go larger and try that and I did have to make a special motor mount out of 3003 .012 alum. the same thing I made the trim tabs out of.
