Well it only took me like 3 years, but the Gen is finaly running pretty good. After the crash last year I got it fixed up and put my X445 prop on and it pushes 78.7km/h, the lake is still cold, but all temps where less then 120F! The boat handels awsome. Running it with 4 x 2s 5800mAh turnagy packs in a 4s2p configuration for 14.8V X 11600mAh. I think the run time is like 10-12 minutes, I havnt hit LVC in it yet. I only drive it for about 8-10 minuts and bring it in before I break it again ;)

One thing I love is how low it sits in the water with all those batteries. Looks very scale and cool!

Ok, I have read this entire thread and am totally confused. I also suffer from CRS, (Can't Remember Sh*t).
I bought one of these used, with stock 4mm flexshaft (soon to be changed to 3/16" for which I will have questions about that later), , Turnigy 180 esc with a UBEC, and a Leopard 3674 1700kv motor. I know from reading this thread that a 40xx size motor is the better choice, but maybe later.
What I am confused about , among other things, can I run 6S and a X442 prop on this setup ? Any help would be appreciated.

You WILL burn up that motor! take it from me, I burnt up the stock esc, replaced it with a T180, only to blow up the stock motor before I even put it back in the water (on 4s), then bought a Feiago motor, 36mm can and it overheated and cooked my T180 esc. (the motor is also no good anymore) Now I finally have a T180 ESC (again) and a Leopard 4092 2080Kv and it runs amazing with an X445 prop.

If I did it all again, I would have run the stock setup on 3s for a little while and just ordered a 40XX Leopard (even the 4074 is plenty big enough) and skip all the crap in the middle. In the end I wasted money on an extra ESC and motor I never needed. In the 3 years I have had the boat, I have driven it a total of about 6-7 times before I finaly "did it right"

I had no fun and wated a lot of money I really didn't have to waste. Save your money and buy some proper sized gear!!!

1. 180 amp ESC or more
2. motor dia. minimum 40mm
3. driveline upgraded to 3/16

I recomend running 4s, it leaves some head room on the Turnagy ESC's<br type="_moz" />

Thanks for the reply. I will probably run this 3674 on 3S for awhile, upgrade to 3/16" drive line with a X440 prop until I can find a good motor for that runs on 5S. I do have a lot of 3S lipos, so 4S would be a problem for me.

Any idea on prop size for a Leopard 4082 1600 running on 5S ?

Pretty happy with my Gen. . . finally. Had some porpusing issues, but the rudder was angled back because I was using a toothpick and some hot glue for a breakaway bolt [:o]I have since got replacmnet nylon bolts and it is running smooth again.<div></div><div>enjoy my "I have no friends, listen to the boat" video.</div><div></div><div>[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTtCCcpuuFs[/youtube]

Looks good, imagine even better when the porpusing issue has gone away. My first attempt at putting mine in the water lasted about 3 seconds. The 3/16 prop shaft parted ways with the flex shaft as soon as power was applied. [:@] At least the prop shaft stayed in the strut until the boat drifted to shore.

Anybody tried stuffing a nitro motor in one of these hulls? I love the FE set-ups that you folks have put together and would love build one of my own but cant afford the hull plus $250 min. to make it proper without having to sell other toys. I do have a .32 marine motor and drive line from a Shockwave 36 I would like to try until I get all the parts for the FE. Anybody know if a nitro motor will fit under the canopy? Sorry for the nitro discusion on an electric forum, but this was the only intellagent discussion I could find relating to the Genesis Hull.

Im sure someone has already asked but i cant be bothered to trawl through all 11 pages. But does anyone know were i can get blank fiberglass genesis hulls from?? When i say "blank" i meen without any paint or decals. Hobbyking seems to have the cheepest bare hull with paint and decals that i can find but im looking for a blank hull.
any help is greatly appreciated.

You may want to check out the "bare hull" options listed above. No sence wasting mony on crap running gear to have to upgrade it right away. Anyhow, to answer your question. . .

Under the canopy, it's hard to make any exact measurments but. . . safely you can get about 80mm height, up to 85mm. This is measured around the area the electric motors sit, from about the center of the hull. be warrned though, everything has a curve to it. The cowl and the center of the hull. Like I said, you can probabily get about 80mm under there.

Hi all,

Instead of making a new thread i thought i might as well just add onto here. Im looking at puting 2x 3S 5000Mah 45C lipos, a leopard 4092 motor (unsure of what Kv to select yet) and a turnigy marine 180A ESC into my 37" genesis hull. Im unsure of what size prop would be best suited but i would like to know if anybody has this setup or similar and what speeds roughly would this setup get my boat to?

My Gen runs Leopard 4092 2080Kv, T180 esc, 4s, on an octra X445 and I get 78.8km/h. It can take a bigger prop, but I like it running nice and cool the way it is.

I just received a Gen twin from HobbyKing. After reading this thread i took everything out and started the painting process. I'm new to this type of boat and want to build it right the first time. I need to run two 3s lipo's- i already have them so a single motor on 6s, I also want to use a castle ESC. I have a good servo, radio, transmitter etc. If someone could please let me know:
#1 What Castle ESC
#2 What Prop
#3 What Motor
#4 What hardware to run or is the stock ok, if the stock is good then whats the best way to offset the rudder or purchase a new rudder #5
#5 Whats the best offset rudder for it
#6 Upgrade the driveline to 3/6

Any other advice would be appreciated. I'm looking to get around 75mph out of it.

You're not going to get 75 out of 6S. Mine's 8S and I'm right there. Check out the forums on OffShoreElectrics.com. Lots of info on Genesis builds there.

I just order the Genesis from H K and I would like to know if the stock motor will work with a 4cell lipo battery I also order a 120 amp ESC. Has any one made a hatch that you don't need to use the tape to seal the hatch?
