RE: OUTBOARD MONOHULL

I don't race at Penrith, but have been there a few times...... I just can't afford the time for the bi-weekly meetings

I run my boats more for fun with my mates. Not always aiming for top speed but a combination of semi scale look and speed......

Yes its a K&B OB. Just finished the boat and haven't had the maiden voyage yet...... The weather is pretty cold and I have been busy with 1000 other things.......'

Good luck

RE: OUTBOARD MONOHULL

Hey guys,

I'm from sydney (cronulla) as well and have been watching this post for a while now,
and has given me inspiration to build a similar bullet styled electric outboard boat.

Growing up in the shire has seen me through the many joys off bullet boats andsupaskua's,
So I really wanted to make an outboard monohull that could hover or at least sithttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...unge_smile.gif

As im currently in year 12, this will be and is becoming my major project for design and technology.

Atm, I'm in the process of building the hull, in which consists of polyurethane (surfboard foam) covered in a layer of fiberglass.
So far the hull is in a 22" x 10" foam block in which im going to cut and shape into the following:

Length: 21"
Height: 3.5"
Width: 9"

As it will be a low budget project, im going for more scale like features then overall speed so here are the specs:

*Aquacraft Ep1 Outboard Motor
*Futaba 2CHradio system
*ProBoat Brushed Waterproof ESC

As I have only basic knowledge of this hobby I need to know weather these specs are compatible?
and I will keep you guys updated with pics etc.

Great work so far JC and Mick, glad to know there's people out there with the same interestshttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif

cheers,

Zane

RE: OUTBOARD MONOHULL

Sounds like a fun project Zane, you may find it easier to get the right shape with balsa, but hey best of luck with it all.
The setup you described sounds like it will work ok, and you can always chuck a brushless motor on there when you want the extra power.
Keep us updated.

Sounds veryone are making their own OUTBOARD

Here I share one ,which was planed to make 3 years before by my master.and I have been taken part in designing it ,but it was Authorised to TFL by my master as a business product which will sell in the markets.

I like the outboard mount , it can be common used both in Electric and Gas. ....this is my idea .....^_^^_^

Share with you..........

Any of your good idea ,pls come on.....

Looks good:D

Remember to remove everything before fibreglassing. It can be a mess......

What resin are you using for the fibreglass?

Im pretty sure I used epoxy seeing as other resins will eat away the polyutherane.

but it came out great, and is very bouyant.

also made my own antenna mount out of a grub screw and an pen ink tube i had lying around

heres some pics:

Hey guys I know this is a really old thread but I would love to buy one of the 1650 hulls if you still any or are able to make them again! They look so good!
