***PPB Dragcat build with PICS & VIDS***
Thought ide share this with the forum members here also,
Here is my new dragcat which has already done some serious travel miles. A little history first on the hull. It is an original PPB dragcat that was made by Paul and delivered to no other than Chris (dasboata) in 2007. Chris then sold the hull to Greg Masterson here in Australia in 2008. As most of us know, Greg passed away last year and all his boats have now been sold to new homes. I was very lucky to have picked this one up practically complete but was going to require some work to get it to were I would like it to be.
Whative done so far is...
Remove all the pour in liquid foam that was used for floatation, that was a major PITA, (thanks Chris) only left a little in the sponsons and the nose.
Installed all new floatation,
Removed the fiberglass radiobox which was glassed down to the hull, another tricky removal without causing any damage to the hull,
Removed all excess marine ply that was also glued into the hull maybe for a tach or gps to sit on?
Re-align and reglass the stuffing tube,
Install a new fuel system complete with two filters, new bag and a neat way to hold the bag in place, (idea from Wally with my spin on it)
Installed new bailers,
Installed new auto lube set up for driveline flexy, (easily removed)
Installed a new soldered stubshaft and flexcable,
Installed new radio box and servo hardware, new switch, new volt indicator,
Installed new pushrods, boots and throttle linkages,
Removed Gregs old decals and racing number,
New water and fuel lines throughout,
Washed and scrubbed out entire hull removing all excess debris,
De-anodised all the RED, except for the throttle arm on the carb, and there was heaps in this original build,
Polished as much aluminium hardware as I could,
Blacked out inside of hull,
New PPG paint,
Made a few changes to the pipe,
Installed new no leak flange,
Applied some chrome pinstriping and a few decals on her behind,
Here are some before, after and nowpics and vids. The before pics are images I found on the dock that Greg took when he ownedit. I didnt bother taking any before but have taken a few after .

...just to update this thread, the best result achieved on her last test was 79.9mph at the local pond. Perfect conditions.
Tried out the new M&D pipe and along with the other small changes made the expected 75mph target was smashed.
The bellow video, is of the 76mph pass we missed the 79.9mph pass.

looks good... motor was strugglin to pull the pitch a little in that vid.
Just finished up my new dragcat last week, and took it to the record trials over the weekend. First day in the water made a best pass of just over 78mph through the traps.. which on gps could have easily been a 80mph or so pass as it wasnt the straightest through the traps. Turning a H50 done by myself.

im using a CCRacing ProMod 260 with a QD(Redline)Hotpipe w/ 1-3/4" coupler. I'll have to snap some pics.. i never did take any pics of it. Built it right before the record trials and never even got to test before going.

...you have to be happy with that result then. Get some pics sorted and post them up. Im sure there would be a few others here who would also like to see it.

...had her out over the weekend again with consistent 77mph passes in not the best conditions. Three great blow offs but no video this time. Next time out will be dedicated to a little more testing after some more small modifications.
Should (fingers crossed) see it in the 80's.

...another day at the local pond and a little faster again. Best speed today running quite fat was 80.5mph. Below are some snapshots and videos of the runs. Every pass was between 79 and 80.5mph with only one blow over which was my fault, its always that last run before you bring it back in...lol enjoy and feel free to comment...
