Default Water out of the exhaust question

I'm looking into running my water discharge from the motors to the exhaust and have the exhaust shoot it out of the pipes (to clear up alot of the tubing). As of now I have eight (8) discharge holes, one for each cylinderand exhaust, I really want to clean that up.

My question is, where on the exhaust should should I mount the water tap so that it gets a good enough siphen to suck up the water when it's not moving?

Could you post a pic of your boat and your engine and exhaust setup ?

This is my setup, (not done by me). As you can see, it's a spaghettie mess. I'll be cleaning it up with Y or T connectors. The only thing I'm not sure about is where to attach the water outlet from the motor to the exhaust. I've seen a few pictures with the connections just before the muffler. Would that be the ideal spot?

You got me lost, First tuning pipes not mufflers. A muffler goes on the end of the tuning pipe. the smaller of the 2. All water lines should exit the hull to the left or out the back. We run clock wise. as far as inside the pipe. you lost me. You want water inside your tuning pipe? The tuning pipe nipple your talking about is for nitro. A pressure line to your fuel tank. supercharging your engine. it's a thin wall pressure fitting.this goes inside a nitro tuning pipe @the widest point . http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXZ661&P=0
discharge holes where? inside your tuning pipe. Why is my question.

On the picture ... the exhausts are the wrong way bolted on.

On front engine there's now a TOO short manifold ,
and on the aft-engine a WF/DeepV manifold that's way toooooooooooo long

WF/DeepV should be on front engine , and a 2 or 3"off-set 90degr. on the aft-engine.

From flange to belly-seam you should measure 13.5" tuned-length (for a start)
BOTH engines MUST have same tuned length.

If your hull is long enough , a 90* short bend on the front-engine ,
and a 2 or 3"off-set 90* on the aft-engine , could fit.

Use SS manifolds .. they last longer ... good choise on 7/8"manifolds at [link=http://www.gizmomotors.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_images.tpl&product_id=338&category_id=14&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=56]Gizmo-motors .[/link]

I'm hopingto have the water shoot out of the exhaust like on the real deals, I'm just unsure of where to attach it from the motor to the exhaust. That whole setup is getting taken out and refitted with new goodies, which includes two 90*'s off of the two front motors, radio box, etc..

You can have the water go into the muffler then it will also quieten the sound and not harm the tuning.

The risk you run by exiting the water out the pipes is that you do not have a way to see if you have water flowing from all fittings so if a blockage occurs - something will die for you to find out about it. That being said - [link=http://photos.imageevent.com/justaddwata/myboats/otherpics/geicoprepaint/huge/Catper20Doneper20020.jpg]adding a nipple to the pipe near the tips[/link] will allow you to exit water from the pipe with minimal impact on performance - it will do little to get rid of the spaghetti situation - that is part of having such a setup.

As already mentioned - your exhaust situation is not optimal and I doubt forward or rear motors are benefiting from having tuned pipes where they are currently installed. [link=http://photos.imageevent.com/justaddwata/myboats/geicocat/huge/IMG_6179.JPG]All pipes should be the same length[/link] and tuned to the pipe length (cannot think of the length for a hanson pipe off the top of my head sorry).

Looks a sweet build - keep us in the loop on your progress and when she is in the water!!!

Thanks again for all of your replies, they're definatly helping me. Like I mentioned before, I didn't rig it, I had another guy in a different state who claimed he did this kind of stuff rig it for me, but in the end, after 7yrs (he did it part-time), I got hosed. I'm in the same boat as Advanced Builder, (pun intended ) with this.

I'll post pictures of how her makeover is going down in the photogallery section on here.

If your going to be doing some rework (recommended) I would strongly suggest using 2 gas tanks instead of 4 as well as a radio box with all electronics in it (where your upper fuel tanks are currently).

Hard to imagine it took 7 years to build it. Most of whats there was not around 4 years ago. Looks like it was assembled with some care - but not with so much knowledge/expertise. I would be interested in seeing more pics - not wanting to critique/criticize - just would want to be sure all is in order before you send it out for a run

Yeah, I took the advise from everyone in my fuel tanks topic and bought two 25oz water bottles. I've also ordered a big radio box that'll house everything. She'll look better in a few months....

a set of new hot pipes would eliminate most of those hoses.
but then you probably dont want to spend any more coin?
nice boat! i envy you.
