Hello all, I moved from Texas to New Hampshire, the Hydro Gas Bug bit hard. I have been in RC all my life (63) now. I have started with the original Cox RC Chaparral and have built at least a hundred cars, a dozen planes. In my life's travels, I survived a California wildfire wiping out my stable of RC cars and trophies. My fragment of history is two famous wins in RC Oval in 1995. Sportsman stock World Championship in Bakersfield CA and Kimbrough 400.
But enough about the past, I have raced 1/4 RC Oval in Texas and when I came up here I found a lot of water so here we are. I have two ML Boatworks wood hydros. the 1.667 Oberto with the rear engine with enclosed cowl. The model number to be added to the thread with some pictures very shortly. The other boat is still in the box but I will get on that soon. The processes of building Oberto (I'll call it that) is very different from all of my other RC adventures. I have most of the rigging. Speedmaster, Octuro, and other hardware. I have finished the main stick and rib build. I have been using 90 degree clamps so I am confident that the build is square. I am using West systems qflex epoxy. This is a slower process than with the fiberglass boats.
So I have started this thread to do a couple of things. I want to share my experience and adventure. I look forward to your experience and help or support.
So with my next post I will share pictures and some other interesting things.
I look forward to opening my world.
Thanks
Marc

It may be slower but, if you take your time, the build quality will be infinitely better. Just out of curiosity, what are you using for a motor? I'm working on a gas scale 1978 Miss Madison with a 27cc CMB. I'm actually having to build the boat around the CMB to make everything fit correctly. Needless to say, it's a real pain in the neck, to put it mildly
