should I buy this ?
My boss has a 1/8 scale miss budweiser that he wants to sell . It comes with an airtronics mx-3 transmitter , all the oil gas , extra prop shafts a retrievel boat batteries etc . Its been in the water a few times maybe 3 . He said I can have everthing for 500bucks . I know its a deal because the boat alone is over 1000 . My question is Im going from fast electric boats to this gas, is it relieable ? etc... the boat is freaken awesome looking its huge .. lol . thanks .

the zenoahs and other gas engines are very reliable and most of the time especially with an rtr boat you don't have to worry about reliability. Just make sure you keep everything well lubed including the cable and engine. Ken.

I wouldn't say Proboat is the worst type of RTR but they're very close, the hardware and stuff they use is pretty well, for a lack of better words, CHEAP AND CORNY, but, if it's his first boat, then stick to a Deep V. Ken.

At $500, I'd buy it and set it on a shelf. My next step would be to go get a deep vee and learn how to drive and maintain a gasser. Step three would be to strip out all the Pro-Boat junk hardware and install good quality stuff which, for the record, includes the radio box. I'd also recommend rebalancing the boat at the same time. Also, 43" isn't huge. That's a standard length for a 1/8th scale hydro. I'm working on a 62" Turbine Miss Madison/Oh Boy! Oberto. Now that's huge

It may be a while. Between renovating house, work and other obligations, haven't had the time to touch it in months. Not to worry, I WILL FINISH IT

RE: should I buy this ?
It's been in the water 3 times, he's selling it at half price. Figure it out!!
My experience with Pro Boat is that you are going to constantly be fixing it.
The hobby shop I bought my Pro Boat from stopped selling the miss bud because so many customers had so many problems. As a matter of fact, they stopped carrying Pro Boat after they were done dealing with my Shockwave and me.
If you have more time than money and don't mind disappointing trips to the water then go for it.
If you want to have repeated fun, not disappointment, then (from what I have read on this site) get an Enforcer Super G.

Get your radio box to the sink and find out what works for you.
I got rid of the flimsy plastic lid and tape. Then made lid out of 1/4 lexan (you can use regular plexi) and installed brass studs & thumb nuts. Used silicone caulk on wire holes & mounting screws, plumbers putty on switch holes, and waterproof weatherstrip for the lid (from the hardware store).
Thanks Pro Boat

Yea, it's a Shockwave!
It's not 100% to my satisfaction, but I worked on it (RTR ha) all last year-when I could.. and even when I couldn't
Put it away over the winter. Will pull it out in 3-4 weeks.
It's not consistantly shutting down with the remote.
Got a couple of IV bags from the hospital. Might mess around with them this summer.
I guess our friend was lured into a Pro Boat. Good luck

That thing looks solid!! They got rid of that 'garbage' can muffler, reinforced the hull and changed the radio box.
Make sure you sharpen & balance the prop, grease the flex shaft, check all fasteners.
After dealing with mine, I'd recomend that you disconnect one end of the steering linkages & flex shaft to check for binding. Had to rebend the stuffing box & raise the steering servo 3/8". It worked out of the box but things gotta last longer when they are not binding.
Have you started it yet? If the cord is too hard to pull, just crack the spark plug loose - start it - tighten the plug.
Don't forget to learn the choke (yellow tygon tube on bottom of the carb. Just grab and twist hard to operate). Check position of choke with a small mirror. And then you'll be able to check it with your finger.
If you're buying more than 1 Pro Boat product, you're a braver man than I.

Looks decent, still not crazy about the hardware, but I guess if you don't have problems and it still does "45mph" then it's a pretty decent beginner boat. The MIss Bud looks in good shape as well. HOw do the twin steering servos connect to the reciever? Ken.
