Velasco Gas hydro hull
Hi Guys is there anyone out there running and racing the Velasco gas hydro thats build out in Calif. I am thinking of buying one to race and would like your get some of your thoughts and ideas on this boat, I really like the old style cowl that he builds, it looks more like a real boat than most gas hydros being raced these days. thanks chuck

RE: Velasco Gas hydro hull
i had one and all i can say is WOWEE ZOWEE... even with a bad set up it hauled the mail and when it was right there was nothin that could touch it... id still be runnin mine but an erreant radio glitch set it into a coastal cypress tree and ended its career. its an epoxy hull and built very light, there are no rails installed, i glued a plywood plate in the bottom and made some aluminum clips to mount the engine. Henry is a great guy to deal with to boot

RE: Velasco Gas hydro hull
a hydro set up is a hydro setup pretty much. turn fin was a Mike Hughes. strut was 1/2" under hull, balance point is about 1/2" behind the sponson. prop was a 6717 hydro, speedmaster 60/90 rudder on the right side, engine stuffed as far forward as possible. i never run a radio box just bag the RX, hitech 805 steering and a fast JR metal geared throttle servos , engine was one of mine with a Quickdraw wtc steel pipe
